TheNiche Posted July 4, 2006 Share Posted July 4, 2006 About this time last night, I was walking along West Beach...or as near as I could get to it without walking through a thick layer of seaweed...when, in the darkness, I approached a thick line in the sand that was darker than the rest of the sand. Once I shined the lit face of a cell phone upon it, I discovered to my surprise that it was in fact a trench...a trench filled with running water that had been cut from behind the dunes to the beach. Further back, toward FM 3005, was a small lake, evidently fed by the tide via the trench.I had to turn around and go back to my car, then drive to the next beach access point, as this trench was seemingly impassable.Incidentally, on my way back, a speeding car passed me and barely stopped before falling into the trench.
