Guest Plastic
We've discussed here that The Westpark Tollway can't be expanded. Well that's not quite the scenario. We could elevate lanes above the existing ones. We could make 2-4 on each side adding to a possible 12 lanes total. The bottom 4 could serve as the mainlanes and the top 4 could be the HOTlanes. Or the top 8 could be the mainlanes and the bottom 4 could be the HOTlanes. Whattduya think?*Please don't post all caps/all bold* Edited April 2, 2006 by dbigtex56
editor
Is Westpark full already? Does it need to be expanded?
YakuzaIce
Is Westpark full already? Does it need to be expanded? From what I hear, it is pretty packed at rush hour times. Though last week I went on it, for the first time, headed outbound at around 5 and I hit barely any traffic. I headed back at around 8 and there were only a couple cars on the road. Jeebus
For maybe an hour in the morning & again in the evening the Westpark is backed up. For me, I find it backed up getting on to 59 in the mornings, and oncoming traffic from the belt in the afternoons.
Original Timmy Chan's
Even going outbound in the mornings, I've sat at the light at BW-8 as long as 10-15 minutes. Outbound traffic at the BW-8 exit backs up onto the Tollway mainlanes. It takes 5 or 6 cycles to get through the light, if you're turning right (northbound). TheNiche
Is Westpark full already? Does it need to be expanded? Not really...although I do kind of wish that they'd brought it slightly inside the loop so as to have direct connectors to the Southwest Freeway inside of the 610/59 interchange. westguy
Right now it is the connections that are totally inadequate so doubling the lanes will do nothing if there's still only one lane to 610, one lane to 59 that's shared with the Chimney Rock exit, and not enough room for cars waiting to exit at each of the traffic lights. Guest Plastic
i hope they eventually build connects for 610&The westpark Tollway.
desirous
They could theoretically extend it to inside the loop. The Westpark Dr. ROW goes all the way to Greenbriar on the south side of US59.As for the BW8 interchange, they need a direct connector trench going northbound.
