TJones
How can you tell what sign are vintage? What do you need to look for?I would do some research on the internet, there are sights devoted to this very interest. I always look at the lettering, it is a tell tale sign. Wear patterns such as rust, fading of paint, type of metal used to make sign. Major companies didn't use too much wood to make logo signs, as they don't hold up to the elements outside. Just about any shop down in Montrose on Westheimer or in the vicinity will most likely be the real thing. Some garage sales are also a good source, as sometimes the people who are just like you, may have bought just way too many and now need to unload some of their "gems".
