pineda
I visited NYC during the brief transit strike they had recently. Here's some photos: The Broadway Holiday Christmas Tree Grand Central Terminal with Chrysler building behind Grand Park Hyatt, where talks were held between MTA board and TWU officials Rockefeller Center now re-named GE building, I believe skating rink at Rockefeller Center lit up at night St. Patrick's Cathedral on 5th Avenue another detail photo of St. Pat's detail photo of the spires of St. Pat's front doors of St. Pat's people crossing street on 5th Avenue Great block party on 5th Avenue on December 20th, 2005! Because of the transit strike, no buses or subway trains were running. On 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue, only emergency vehicles were allowed to be on the street. Taxis had to have at least four passengers per cab, so did delivery vehicles and private towncars, so that restricted traffic on most surrounding streets as well. The NYPD was also out in force making the streets of NYC at Christmastime a wondrous thing indeed, quiet and safe!

editor
When I was a New Yorker I used to think St. Patrick's was amazing. Then I started to travel and found out that it's really nothing special by European standards. It was kind of a reality check.
