The board of the Baton Rouge, La.-based National Senior Games Association selected Houston as the host city during this year's annual meeting. Houston was also a finalist for the 2009 Games. The Senior Olympics is currently one of the largest recurring multi-sport events in the United States and is the largest multi-sport event in the world for seniors. The way the air quality's been lately, combined with our usual temps and humidity, it will be good if no athlete keels over during an event.While this will be good for business and possibly for publicity, all we need is one death or someone coughing up blood to add to our already bad reputation.
