Nichols of Jacksonville that he had submitted a letter of resignation to the governor effective 8 a.m. Thursday. A member of the commission since 1997, Nichols said he intended to run for public office in 2006.(Commission Member Robert Nichols of Jacksonville was re-appointed to a new six-year term in May 2003.
