editor Posted September 30, 2011 Share Posted September 30, 2011 METRORAIL PATRONS RIDE FREE TO TEXANS HOME GAMES COURTESY OF RELIANTMETRORail patrons will catch a free pass from Reliant to the Houston Texans home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday, Oct. 2.In fact, you will be able to cheer the home team and score a free ride on METRORail for all of the Texans home games at Reliant Stadium this season.As part of the partnership between METRO and Reliant, the energy provider will pay all light-rail fares on every Texans home game day starting from 5:30 a.m. game-day until midnight. To further promote public transit to and from the games, METRO will roll out a specially wrapped Reliant train featuring an image of Texans All-Pro wide receiver Andre Johnson. The specially wrapped train will makes its debut on Sunday and continue making daily trips throughout the football season.Keep in mind the free fares are only available for Texans’ home games. Metro Police will be enforcing fares on other days and rail patrons who do not pay the $1.25 fare could face a fine up to $180. METRORail averages about 15,194 boardings on Texans game day. No need to fumble with traffic or parking. The Red Line is a convenient way to make it to the end zone - exit Reliant Park station and the stadium is a short walk away.
