editor Posted September 24, 2011 Share Posted September 24, 2011 Those of you who frequent the Katy and Points West section of HAIF will start to notice topics being posted with the prefix "Covering Katy."We have formed a partnership with Covering Katy, a new blog dedicated to providing news coverage of issues important to Katy and surrounding areas. The fact of the matter is that there are a lot of people in Katy, but nearly all of the media coverage in the area is focused on Houston and its immediate surroundings. As Covering Katy grows, it hopes to fill in that coverage gap by providing community-level news and information, the way local newspapers and radio used to.Covering Katy is the work of award-winning journalist Dennis Spellman. You may remember him from his days at KTRH radio or 39 News. This is Dennis' first foray into internet media, so it'll be something of a learning curve for him. But hopefully everyone will be supportive and he'll get the hang of things quickly, and his web site will be a valuable resource for people living west of Houston.If you have any news tips or suggestions, send them to tips@coveringkaty.com.
