Dan the Man
The Clarke Historical Library at Central Michigan University houses the records of the Aladdin Company - a company that built pre-cut kit houses, similar to Sears or Crain Ready-Cut. Thanks to some funding, the library has scanned the old home catalogs from 1908 to 1954 and posted them on the internet for public viewing:http://clarke.cmich.edu/resource_tab/aladd...n_catalogs.htmlWhile I do not know how many old Houston houses were actually Aladdin Homes, many of our old bungalows are similar in appearance and were likely derived from catalogs like these. Therefore, these catalogs can be an invaluable resource for people curious about their old house. The images can provide clues about the original appearance of a house, or they can provide ideas in planning a period-appropriate renovation.EDIT: Fixed Link
