WillowBend56
Here's an architectural project that's seen recent completion:http://www.harveyhouseofslatontx.com/I have not seen it in its finished state. Looks inviting as an events venue or a travel rest stop. Only one of its kind operating in Texas that's still open to overnight guests---not by the Fred Harvey Co. though! Today there are other former Fred Harvey concession buildings at Brownwood, Paris, and Gainesville. Most of these were eateries not hotels. [There were Fred Harvey lunchrooms and newsstands at Houston Union Station and Galveston Union Station before WW II. Rosenberg had a lunchroom as well.]Slaton is just south of Lubbock. In the nearby towns of Post and Snyder are distinctive railroad depots designed by K.C. architect Louis Curtiss. He designed similar ones at Lubbock and Sweetwater but they have long ago been demolished.
