aggie92
Trying to help a friend here in the Heights with recommendations or ideas on how to move their storage shed / building from their backyard to their rental property about 2 miles away. The building sits on cinder blocks and is 13.5' x 17'. It is a well constructed site-built building verses a metal shed so it isn't light-weight. They have talked with house movers and the job is too small for them. They spoke with a wrecker service to see about dragging it up on the flat bed but they will not set it back on cinder blocks nor were they thrilled about getting it off of the current blocks. This may be the only reasonable way outside of getting a crane which I would guess would be very expensive. Any recommendations for someone or company that moves these small buildings? or ideas on how to do this to point them in the right direction for types of companies? GREASER
sounds like it would be easier to buy a new one.
cgallagher
Make some phone calls to the crane companies. The smaller cranes are less expensive, and you could probably negotiate loading at the pickup point and unloading at the new location. All you would need is a truck with a lowboy trailer to drive the building. I'm thinking $200-$350 for the crane service. A note on the cranes: the farther away the building from where the crane is set up, the larger (and more expensive) the crane has to be.
