editor
When I was in college I had a course about Urban Social Studies. It was one of those typical "white man=bad" college courses that you sit through in order to get the credit so you can get a diploma so you can get a job so you can get a smokin' hot babe to marry you. This photo reminds me of that course. There was an exercise where dozens of people had chosen to build their homes in the shadow of a chemical plant, and the plant's emissions were hurting them and they deserved millions of dollars in "reparations" for choosing to live next to the chemical plant instead of other neighborhoods where the housing was more affordable. This photo shows that exact same thing happening right here in Houston! That horrible toxic waste factory is spewing carcinogens into the atmosphere and poisoning the water that puppies play in! Puppies! Won't someone think of the puppies!Wait... it's a giant coffee roaster? It's the Maxwell House plant?Nevermind.
FIREhat
Ha, I took one of those classes once. Excruciating.Although I will say you would be surprised by the hazmat in that plant. Decaffeinating coffee beans is apparently a pretty chemically intensive process.
