ricco67 Posted November 20, 2008 Share Posted November 20, 2008 I was watching a show about Dangerous Roads on the History Channel the other morning. in one particular segment, they (some expert) pointed out that roads in developing countries had several problems, among them that the roads were NOT straight and went on to say that Straight roads are more efficient. This little tidbit kinda' took me by surprise, I was always under the impression by a report I read 10 years ago (....yes, I'm a nerd) that America actually needed MORE winding roadways so people do not fall under "highway Hypnosis" from driving straight for a considerable length of time. The logic being is that they would stay alert because of the constant changing conditions of the road. What IS better? Personally, I like windy roads...more fun.
