Llano Hotel

Around 1970 I went on a high school geology field trip (sponsored by SMU and the National Science Foundation) to the Hill Country. We stayed overnight in an old hotel in downtown Llano. Beds were old fashioned, bathrooms likewise, telephones ditto, etc. Clean and nice, but old. Definitely a step back into time 50 years or more. That place left an impression on me. It was so unlike most places you stay at these days.

I notice there's a guide book out by Texas A&M Press called "Historic Hotels of Texas" that describes places where one can overnight that still have some of that old charm. [Llano Hotel is no longer in business, unfortunately.]

Got any favorites that exist or even no longer exist?
