westguy
An airline is still a beancounter's enterprise. You can barely make a profit on one. I know they once vastly underestimated the demand for short flights, but it's still difficult to schedule a flight that you know you can sell seats on.I wonder if its much simpler with highspeed rail like in other developed countries. Choosing airplanes over trains is probably like substituting apples for oranges.
midtownuser
When Trains are cheaper than flying:http://thetravelersnotebook.com/featured/2...er-than-flying/I wish we had a train that went from Houston to Dallas, San Antonio or Austin.
desirous
I took Amtrak from Chicago to Houston. It cost a bit more than flying, but I had my own bedroom and free steak. Most major airports raise my blood pressure; at least Hobby is reasonable.
