galahad1743 Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 There is going to be a Trash Bash to clean up Little Thicket Park on Saturday March 29, 2008. It is located just west of Ella at the end of W 23rd St. I went hiking around the park this past weekend and it has a ton of potential, but has a lot of trash scattered throughout it right now. With a little cleanup, the park could be a really great natural area to go hike around, etc. It is also an official nature sanctuary for migratory birds (if that is something you are into). I've seen plans for the park to have a complete "hike & bike" overhaul, but don't know if that is still in the works or not. The cleanup effort has the support of the Shady Acres Civic Club, but will need help from anyone who is willing to pitch in. samiamj Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Join the Shady Acres Civic Club in the trash cleanup of Little Thicket Park. It is on Sat, March 28 from 8:30 to 1:30 pm. Rain or shine for this event. Last year, volunteers collected a truck container load of garbage. Little Thicket Park, located at 1831 West 23rd Street, is a 10.6-acre slice of nature near the intersection of Ella Boulevard and the North Loop. Registration is in NE corner of the Lowe's parking lot located on the corner of North Loop 610 West and Ella. You do not need to pre-register for the event, however, all participants must complete a liability form.
