editor Posted September 29, 2007 Share Posted September 29, 2007 Houston, Texas - September 27, 2007 - Fujiwara Ikuzo, Japan's greatest living ceramic muralist, with over 500 major installations throughout Japan, visits Houston Oct 1-5, 2007. He will be in Houston to discuss his architectural and landscape art. This legendary artist was invited by Dean Joseph Mashburn for a lecture at the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture at the University of Houston, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 . Martha Blackwelder, Executive Director of Asia Society Texas Center and former Coates-Cowden-Brown Curator of Asian Art at the San Antonio Museum of Art, will introduce Mr. Fujiwara, esteemed among the ceramicists from the famous pottery town of Mashiko, Japan.Prior to the lecture, a reception will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the lobby of the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture. Sushi will be provided courtesy of Glen Gondo, president of Tokyo Gardens Catering. VicMan Posted October 3, 2007 Share Posted October 3, 2007 I also found Ikuzo Fujiwara (藤原郁三 Fujiwara Ikuzō)'s page here: http://www.ikuzo.com/Regarding the discrepancies in the naming order, in the Japanese language the family name (Fujiwara) goes before the given name (Ikuzo).
