XTRX
I'm looking at a house in that area and was wondering how that area was. I'm particularly interested in the crime rate.
VicMan
77071 is far southwest Houston approaching the Beltway. That is a part of the "Fondren Southwest" area. The apartment complexes there are known for crime. I would be skeptical of that area. The zip code is in Houston ISD.Zoned schools include:High schools:* Sharpstown (Has issues with street punks and city thugs)* Westbury (Has issues with street punks and city thugs)Middle schools:* WelchElementary schools:* J. Jax
Yeah, from what I've seen and heard (only been out that way once), that area is not particularly safe. I may be wrong but I think the Fondren/Belfort area has the highest murder rate in the city. This might give you some info on that hood. EDIT: After looking at the crime map, it seems that robberies (lots on the street and in parking lots) are pretty common, as well as aggravated assaults. HoustonRealtor
Braeburn Valley is also in 77071. I have owned a home there and know some people that still do. Crime within the subdivision was not a big problem. Some of the major thoroughfares are less than desireable though. Fondren Southwest has a large population of orthodox Jews because of the synagogue(s) within walking distance.
