Can Anyone Recommend a Good Tree service

We are trying to buy a house in the Middlebrook section of Clear Lake - downsizing. Found the perfect house for us, unfortunately, the only things wrong are drainage in the yard, and a huge oak tree that may be dying.

Anyone know a top-notch tree service that gives free estimates and comes to Clear Lake?

This is probably a deal breaker - so I need to know if there's a good one out there. If someone messes up, it will take down most of the house.

And we also need a good landscaper because the drainage in the yard is bad due to the city replacing sewer pipes a few years ago. We need a "swale" according to the inspector.

I used Ace Tree Specialist. They gave me a free estimate, showed up when they said they would, did what they said they would, and cleaned up after themselves.

I was in contact with Ray Strange and his number is 713-723-0417. They expect payment after the job is complete. I will use them again.

As far as the landscaping work... I have no recommendations.

Good Luck!!! I posted the same question not too long ago. All I got were responses from readers with suggestions on what might be wrong with my trees. All I wanted was a name and phone number. Maybe it's against the rules, I don't know.

I ended up calling Ability Trees (sorry, don't have the number). I have heard their ads on Sports Radio 610 forever. I have asked around and I think the quote I got was reasonable, about $1,500 to trim all of our trees. I thought this was expensive, but I guess it is expensive to have your trees trimmed. Still saving up to have the job done.

I think they service the entire Houston area. One problem, I had to schedule an appointment a month in advance because they were so busy. That should give you time to save up to have the work done though.

Good luck, freakin' yards are expensive.

I asked my dad who he uses. Reid Tree Service 281-998-9260. We have been using him for a couple of years now. Did a great job clearing out our very large and overgrown tree and our tree is way healthier bc of it. maybe he will be a less expensive alternative.

Thanks. I will call him, too. Need three bids. One I got today was for $1500.00. They say it is a maple and they only live 45 years. The HOUSE isn't that old, but maybe they built with it on the lot already. Anyway, he says it's dead and has to come down. This may be a deal breaker. I wish Westheimer Tree Experts worked in Clear Lake, so I could recommend them to you, but maybe someone else in my area is looking for a tree service and will see this. They are just top-notch. They came out 2 weeks ago. I pointed out trees that I had concerns about, and with some of them, they said it was not necessary to cut down or trim them, so they are obviously honest, aren't going to come and tell you trees need to be trimmed or removed when they don't just to make money. Also, after they ground a stump I asked them to remove, they took the grindings and mulched my beds with them. They thoroughly swept and blew my driveway, patio, and walkway - not a single leaf or twig left on them. I can't say enough good things about them.

That $1500 quote sounds excessively high. I paid $800 to have several large dead branches at the top of a massive old oak in my front yard cut out, an entire tree that had been struck by lightning and fallen in my yard cut up and hauled off, and three stumps gound out.
