Houston?

OK. Thanks for the clear up. A 102 story building would be awesome but would look kind of odd IMO.

I was reading a blog post about downtown developments and had come across this part of the post.

Chevron just announced the coming construction of a new 50-story tower, which would be the 2nd tallest construction project in Texas since the 80s. And that's not even the half of it... Hines is set to announce a even taller skyscraper than Chevron in the near future.

Will someone shed light on this?

I'm crossing my fingers on all of these towers however. I don't trust any of these renderings or proposals.

Perhaps, it will look something like this, from this angle.

 

This rendering is beyond optimistic.  The reason they have been hiding it is that there is no way in the Houston tenant market that this thing will work financially.  The location isn't great and the design is way to expensive.  I wish these guys the best but this thing will never break ground looking like that. 

 

As a side note, this rendering doesn't even show you how complex the facade design really is.  There are more curves going on than this image shows.

How close is this thing to getting built?

Why? I think the Williams tower needs towers its size to compliment it.

It is only a rendering.  Once completed I believe it will appear very sleek.  It seems it may be almost 800 feet high.  It is also bringing more jobs to Houston.  I think Hines is next at 609 Main St.  I have heard that a very tall skyscraper will go up by Minute Maid Park because it is out of HOU airport flight pattern.  With the tax abatements a lot of buildings have already been announced.  I believe a little boom is coming for downtown.  I wonder what Trump is up to?

OK. Thanks for the clarification. That's a really lovely tower. It would be a shame if it weren't built. It would be amazing if this tower matched the Williams tower in height. Seeing the crown on this building (from a long distance at night) at a higher height would be awesome.

From these last few posts, it seems as if Astoria isn't going to be built. Is my assumption correct?
