  1. Update from the Chronicle:

    http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2012/06/unique-design-on-proposed-inner-loop-tower/

Here’s an image of the high-rise planned for the site of the old Confederate House restaurant (and later the State Grille). Developer PM Realty Group says it hopes to break ground on the 39-story tower in the third quarter, but it first needs to hire a contractor and secure a construction loan. The RTKL-designed building is planned for the northeast corner of West Alabama and Weslayan. It will have 254 rental units.

I saw this on the TexAgs forums and thought it would be of interest. I don't know if this has been posted yet.

The project is proposed to be a 16-story, 440+ bed upscale building, complete with modern amenities including a rooftop pool and hot tub, outdoor grilling station, sand volleyball, sophisticated fitness center, individual and group study lounges, and on-site management by CA's full service staff. The project is expected to break ground in April 2012 and be ready for occupancy come August 2013.

    Just an update:

"A&M's Mays Business School is opening a new satellite classroom for its Professional MBA program in the CityCentre development in west Houston.

The university leased about 24,000 square feet in a new office building under construction in the 37-acre mixed-use development that replaced Town & Country Mall. Classes will begin in in the fall of 2012, shortly after the building opens."

  4. H-TP: Well put. Just so you know, the feeling's mutual. . .I wish I had a dollar for every time I've had to bail off into the grass on my bike on Saturday morning because iPod-ed, oblivious joggers are running 5-abreast in their marathon training haze on the Memorial Park bike trail. But I can at least chuckle at the twisted irony having to avoid slamming into the signpost with the picture of a bike and the words BIKE ROUTE on it.

So here's hoping that the powers-that-be are taking those logistical issues into consideration, so that cyclists and runners can be courteous and polite to one another -- from a distance on dedicated trails. B)

    Haha. This reply wins.

  5. Topic on it here. But nice find on your link. http://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/22553-10-acre-development-at-bush-airport/page__p__352525__hl__%2Biah+%2Bbush+%2Bdevelopment__fromsearch__1#entry352525

There really is a need for restaurants in that area. The only thing on JFK are fast food places, except for the one on JFK & the Beltway, and of course the ones inside the restaurants, but people get tired of the same old places. Two or three additions would help. I think it's a good idea to put this right next to the car rental terminals, too.

I agree. It'll be nice to have something like this around the airport. People can have a little more variety near the airport before heading out on a flight or after landing in the Houston without having to search too far.
