I remember reading about it when they first applied for the grant. It's good to see they brought it home for the state and university. Hopefully the new facilities will spur further biotechnology development in the area.

Indeed, it is changing a lot in a short period of time. Then you have the Kyle Field renovation (or demolition and rebuilding) which is up for discussion right now for the relatively near future. It will be interesting to see everything change around the town.

I saw this on the TexAgs forums and thought it would be of interest. I don't know if this has been posted yet.

Texas A&M University – 717 University
The project is proposed to be a 16-story, 440+ bed upscale building, complete with modern amenities including a rooftop pool and hot tub, outdoor grilling station, sand volleyball, sophisticated fitness center, individual and group study lounges, and on-site management by CA's full service staff. The project is expected to break ground in April 2012 and be ready for occupancy come August 2013.

I like the design. It is similar to Aqua in Chicago. And maybe I'm wrong, but I counted 40 floors in that rendering.

Just an update:
"A&M's Mays Business School is opening a new satellite classroom for its Professional MBA program in the CityCentre development in west Houston.
The university leased about 24,000 square feet in a new office building under construction in the 37-acre mixed-use development that replaced Town & Country Mall. Classes will begin in in the fall of 2012, shortly after the building opens."

"as economy class as possible"? So a giant Super 8?
I'm sure they're thinking Motel 6. Super 8 doesn't leave the light on for you.

Star is pretty good, but I always compare it to the pizza I've had in Chicago. Nonetheless, it is still good. There's a place called Locatelli's off of Spring-Cypress that always seems to serve up some good pizza, too.

Only if it is a Lifetime Fitness
I think a multi level apartment complex would have to be added to make everyone happy.
You both are right. How could I be so naïve?

This Tysons Corner Walmart reminded me of this thread. Maybe if Walmart adds a fitness center on top, everything will be OK.

H-TP: Well put. Just so you know, the feeling's mutual. . .I wish I had a dollar for every time I've had to bail off into the grass on my bike on Saturday morning because iPod-ed, oblivious joggers are running 5-abreast in their marathon training haze on the Memorial Park bike trail. But I can at least chuckle at the twisted irony having to avoid slamming into the signpost with the picture of a bike and the words BIKE ROUTE on it.
So here's hoping that the powers-that-be are taking those logistical issues into consideration, so that cyclists and runners can be courteous and polite to one another -- from a distance on dedicated trails.
Haha. This reply wins.

Topic on it here. But nice find on your link. http://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/22553-10-acre-development-at-bush-airport/page__p__352525__hl__%2Biah+%2Bbush+%2Bdevelopment__fromsearch__1#entry352525
There really is a need for restaurants in that area. The only thing on JFK are fast food places, except for the one on JFK & the Beltway, and of course the ones inside the restaurants, but people get tired of the same old places. Two or three additions would help. I think it's a good idea to put this right next to the car rental terminals, too.
I agree. It'll be nice to have something like this around the airport. People can have a little more variety near the airport before heading out on a flight or after landing in the Houston without having to search too far.

I was just on the Houston Airport System site searching for some info on Hobby Airport and saw this press release for possible development at IAH. I guess I am just out of the loop since this was my first time hearing about it.
