  1. Thanks so much for the link to Automatt's awesome photos of NYC! I was just there for 5 days and none of my photos even came close to capturing the beauty of New York; these do!
  2. same story back in Chronicle again yesterday...
  3. Wow, Puma, you got a thing for the "search feature" nowadays, don't you? What are you, the "search feature" police?
  4. That's funny alright, but the Office Space reference makes me think of Bennigan's instead or T.G.I. Friday's maybe. (BTW, from the pdf file, you can see that it only says "Proposed" Chili's...) Not a done deal, yet.
  5. QUOTE(pineda @ Tuesday, April 18th, 2006 @ 1:11pm) Seriously, you waited a YEAR to comment on this one?
  6. Gosh, I better tell 'em quick, huh? They've been living there for years thinking that they lived in Spring!
  7. Yeah, that's got to be weird, huh? You tell people "I live in The Woodlands, but my address says Spring." Like Creekside Park (a new village that's technically part of The Woodlands), but the address will say "Spring" and the kids living there will go to Tomball schools.
  8. Huh? If you have a Spring mailing address and think you live in Spring (as my friends in Windrose, Gleannloch Farms and Memorial West do), then you live in Spring. There is no "city of Spring" out here, like Tomball, so going by the post office definition of Spring is about all we have to go by, technically speaking.
  9. Yeah, actually extend it further than Stuebner Airline, on the west side, because Windrose, Memorial Northwest and Gleannloch Farms are all in Spring, also. Not sure where exactly it changes to Klein in that area.
  10. It's pretty close. Spring technically would extend all the way up to Spring Creek to the north, on both sides of Gosling Road. Even though that is all owned by the Woodlands Operating Company now, the physical address is still Spring. And then to the west all the way over to Kuykendahl, excluding Carlton Woods at Creekside, which has been designated The Woodlands. Good job, though. Is this for a class project or something?
  11. how going green caused developer to see red instead
  12. I just heard on one of the CNN/FOX/MSNBC channels that the gunman went into Norris Hall (the engineering building) and chained the doors shut from the inside, so the police couldn't get in and the students/faculty couldn't get out. Also, some of the students were injured when they leapt from the windows onto the pavement below, some sustaining massive injuries. I finally had to turn it all off and walk away and here I am now, typing about it, ARGH! I think I'll go read a book now.
  13. Yeah, it is odd, isn't it? My neighborhood of Northampton and the one connected to it, Auburn Lakes, and the one to the west of mine, Augusta Pines, are all zoned to Klein ISD. But, Creekside Park, just behind all that, is zoned to Tomball, while the rest of The Woodlands is zoned to Conroe ISD. I wonder if realtors pushing Creekside Park are letting their clients know this, or just letting them find out later on their own. It is confusing to potential buyers, I'm sure. On the good side, I just went out to Creekside Park off Gosling last weekend and looked around. It's an interesting layout, with a good number of the homes getting "creekfront" lots (as opposed to lakefront lots). Some of the builders spec homes are not really attractive at this stage, hopefully that will change when it's further along and landscaped. Also, the homes are built really close to one another, like most places now, I suppose. I do hope someone with Harris County is working to get some signals put in place on Gosling soon, though, because with the way the subdivision pops up right after the Spring Creek Bridge, it kinda catches people off-guard sometimes and this is likely to get a lot worse once residents start moving in.

  15. Keep up the good work, Kym. What a worthwhile & thoughtful use of your time on the internet.
  16. Memorial Northwest website I LOVE Memorial Northwest! It's a beautiful tree-shaded area with big houses and backyards perfect for families, but the best reason to live here would probably be because you're zoned to Klein High School. When we went house-hunting a few years back, we were overwhelmed by so many great choices in this neighborhood to pick from. We ended up moving to Northampton, which is a lot like MNW in many ways, but we really liked that the schools zoned to Northampton, (Northampton Elementary, Hildebrandt Intermediate and Klein Oak), were connected to and within walking distance from Northampton. It has really made the early morning school commutes for kids on different schedules a lot easier.
  17. Hi Kym and welcome to HAIF! I graduated from a "sister" school, Westbury, in the same time period. At that time, it was customary to put the school's initial under the stone. A good place to answer your other questions would be to visit the high school itself or the HISD administration building. They usually have copies of all the past yearbooks on display somewhere there, and would most likely let you look through them while you're in the office. Good luck to you and your group!
  18. Yeah, they'll need it. I heard Creekside Park, the last village in The Woodlands, which just opened, is projected to have more than 7,000 homes and they're all zoned to Tomball.
  19. Chris Gainey who works for Movie Tavern now once worked for Brinker as an A.D. for Macaroni Grill concept.
