Finally got around to making it the Big Mamou and VERY impressed. My friend had many questions about the wine, Brenda (Chef/Owner) came to the table with tastings and discussed the wine selections. We talked about the menu and dinner specials. My friend got the delicious short ribs (which is not very cajun) and they were EXCELLENT and i got Shrimp Creole which was PERFECT.
Found out they also serve breakfast on Saturday and Sunday which sounds marvelous.
Give is a try!
I like the place and the people are definitely friendly, but at the same time, for what one gets do not feel the food is worth the price. I hope they reduce their prices and in the long run get more customers and eventually do even better.

That made me throw up in my mouth a little
How to properly address your Walmart Mailers
If you live in the immediate area of the proposed site (as I do), you may have received a brochure from Walmart telling you about the project. Do NOT send the mailer back to them. We believe they will use any returned mailer as a ‘vote’ for support for the effort irrespective of what is written on it.
Instead, we would like you to do to write ‘NO’ all over the mailer in easily legible writing and re-Address the mailer to the Mayor’s Office:
Mayor Annise D. Parker
City of Houston
P.O. Box 1562
Houston, Tx 77251
Do NOT send your mailers back to Walmart as they will count them as a positive response and twist your opinion of the project.!

There are two beautiful (mostly white with slight shades of off white) cats (mother and kitten) at the St. Theresa's church entrance. Noticed them there last night. Have made sure that they have water / food.
Does any one know of someone that would like to adpot these or a shelter that will take them. I am not a cat person, and they have even got myself going there to feed them.
If you can please pass this message on. I will call Friends For Life on 19th street and ask if they will accept them.
If you want to have a look at them, go to the church entrance, stay towards your left and call out. They rest / sleep in the bushes / behind the flower beds (under the bell tower) but will come out if called.
Please do your best to pass this message on. Thanks for your help.
(I will keep you updated as to how they are doing and if they have found a home or are no longer at this location).

Being new to the area, this is so helpful! We've been to some of these places (Jax, Berryhill, Teothihuacan , Pie in the Sky, Spanish Flower, Hickory Hollow, Chicago Pizza) and I can't wait to try all of the other places on your lists that we haven't been too yet. Now that I know Empire Seafood serves chinese food and not just seafood, I think that will be at the top of my list. I've been craving Wonton soup and didn't know where to go!
Try the Wonton soup @ Les Givral's cafe (Vietnamese restaurant). It is good , and reasonably priced at ~$7.
Went to the Washington Av. location on the weekend.

ABC13 is supposed to run a story on the burgeoning Yale St. Wal-Mart resistance tonight at 5:30.
Thanks for the heads up. Good job Nick with the interview on Channel 13.

Looks like the attachment didn't work in my first post, so here it is the currently proposed Walmart center layout again in jpg format.

Was Wal-Mart approached by the owner of the property on Yale between I-10 and Washington to buy the land? What does this mean to the likes of our Heights Mom and Pops? What will that do to the traffic patterns on Yale and Washington?
