A mall dt would be great imo. Nothing big with 200 stores, but something to attract big name retail and blend in with street level stores. No big city in america has street level stores exclusively. Look at Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, and even New York. That's why I love Pacific Place. Only about 40 stores, but is a great impact to the dt Seattle retail core. There's San Francisco Centre, Pacific Place, Water Tower Place. Just design it right where you can enter some of the stores from the street. The huge mall in dt Philadelphia is way to big imo.

Why is Plastic trying to make Houston so different from most other cities. If dt Houston had great retail, residential, parks, playgrounds and everything else it would thrive just like any other big city.
-
Why even waste time spending millions of dollars renovating something that's only caters to weekday lunchtime crowds and is deserted the rest of the time. It makes absolutely no sense. Houston, WAKE UP.
-
Do you honestly think this is a good idea? You've got to be kidding.
-
It would be a great place if it were renovated the right way. It's all wrong. Why can't there be some street level retail or why can't you enter some of the malls stores and restaurants from the street?

Underground parking there would be great. Union Square in the heart of San Francisco's retail district has underground parking. It would be a great benefit.

Is Foley's still open dt? Did they change it to Macy's yet? I read somewhere it's one of the top grossing Foley's stores in Texas. Never understood why this store, with its perfect location has been left to rot. Renovating it and making it a grand downtown Houston department store would be the start of a downtown retail renaissance imo.

I had a few more pics but it wouldn't allow me to post them. I didn't realize there's a limit to the number of pics you can post. Oh well.

I know everybody down there isn't like this but from an outsider looking in, when I'm in Dallas I do see more big stiff hair, more makeup, more outlandish bright clothing particularly with the women from say 45 years old and up. Sometimes I look at houses for sale in Dallas on different websites. When I click on the pictures of the interiors of some they all look the same. Rather gawdy with big old fashion china cabinets with fake ivy cascading from the top. Flower print couches and so on. Oh well, Sheer Dallas is not as bad as I thought. It's entertaining.

Wow that seems awefully high. ^^ Here in Seattle it's 1.5 percent I think.

If I were you I would just stick to using a professional. Yes an agent. And how on earth is he making as much money as you? This For Sale by Owner is crap. Unless you're on a heavely traveled road 96 percent of the FSBOs end up using an agent in the end. It might look like your agent isn't doing much but believe me he is.

Are property taxes high in Houston? Someone told me they are extremely high. What's the truth?

Sorry I don't have any pictures of Everett. ^^ Tons of Seattle though.

When were these pictures taken, P. Wright?
And if I can FINALLY come up with some negative criticism, I'll say that it seems as if Seattle could stand to have some wider sidewalks (not the ones in these pics). Some of them appear to be awfully narrow.
Okay, I've successfully found a negative to lob at Seattle. I feel better now.
That's a beautiful looking mall, BTW.
I took all of these pics this past Saturday, April 30th 2005. You reall think we need wider sidewalks? I never noticed. Here's a few more from April 30th.

Blech, I would not like a times square type of thing in Uptown. keep uptown rich, not plastered in tacky, over-colorful overcommercializtion.
Rich? Please!! Yeah just keep it 80's tacky, tired and bland.

Wow, the tunnel list is quite large....
What a shame. It makes no sense.

What a perfect location for a HOB. This is the start of something great for dt Houston.
