  1. sorry I don't know where to find what you're looking for but, shame on me, I'm going to piggy back on your post to air a complaint I have about foam that's used for furniture and bedding- like mattresses. It's my understanding that our congress and epa permits (or perhaps the word is insists that these foam products are infused with a fire retardant that's been banned in Sweden because it interferes with our endocrine system. And it's now ubiquiitous. Inuit people in the far north even have it in their bloodstream. Sorry to highjack your post but I thought it was a good idea to spread the word on this although y'all may be well aware of this. The fire retardant is also used in children's clothing such as pajamas. But since it can be washed out of non petroleum based products like cotton that's a safe fabric to buy for children - that is natural cotton pajamas comes with a warning that it is not flame retardant. That's what I buy for my grandkids. I've been concerned about this for years and thought that it's a good idea to get the congress to ban it. Good luck with your search. (By the way, I sometimes get packages with hard styrofoam pieces protecting the products inside - but that breaks easily. This is the first post I've ever made and perhaps I've broken the rules - sorry and again, good luck!
  2. Sorry to hear about your heater, crunchtastic. Is it your central heating heat exchanger? If so you probably need an HVAC person. Shortly after we moved into our last house about 15 years ago, our heat exchanger went out. We called Air Temperature on South Blvd. They took the time and trouble to learn that the heat exchanger was still under its 10 year warranty and installed the replacement provided by the company under the warranty, charging us just for labor, saving us a bundle. Air Temperature is a family run business. Trey is the son of the really nice owners and is a very nice guy. Plus he's very knowledgable. If you call them, ask for Trey. Air Temperature charges a fair price and does a good job and doesn't do work that's not necessary from my experience. Good luck.
  3. My townhouse and the neighboring townhouse will be demolished by the new owner to make room for his business expansion. These townhouses were built in 1985. We purchased the townhouse in 1993 and the architect who designed the houses told me they were built using expensive materials. There are, for example, white oak floors (not glued down), marble countertops in bathrooms, solid doors with Baldwin hardware, 2 x 4's made of harder wood than is standard now, 2 seven year old 4 ton 13 seer Carrier A/C units, lots of mirrors and cabinets. My question is: Are there contractors who buy and remodel homes who might be interested in making a bid for these materials? Jump to folder: Inbox Sent Items
