  1. Thanks! I'll check out that website. I will have slab.
  2. I will be closing on a home in the September/October time frame and would like to have wood flooring installed. Can anyone recommend the best way to go about doing this? For example, I've thought about doing the Home Depot/Lowe's route, but my sense is that there is likely a better way. Also, I'd appreciate opinions on types of wood. I'd like something nice looking, but durable. I like how bamboo looks, but from my research, it seems to not be so durable. Lastly, I'd like to investigate the possibility of doing some built-cabinets and bookshelves. Can anyone recommend a person or business in Houston that does this? Many thanks!
  3. I'm originally from Chicago (Southside) and I love the Heights. It's a very cute area. I currently rent not too far from the Galleria and have been looking to buy. If I could have afforded what I want in the Heights, it would definitely have been a strong contender. Personally, I would choose the Heights over Midtown, but my main criteria for looking for housing has always been to look at what will get me to work the fastest (but that's my personal preference). If you like an area that is "walkable" I would also choose the Heights over Midtown. I have a friend who lives in Midtown and her subdivision is cute - but I would not go walking outside of it, unless I went with a big stick As far as safe areas, I'm sure others could comment better than I. Being from Chicago and having lived in every conceivable type of neighborhood since then from coast to coast, I'm pretty comfortable everywhere. I think an alarm and common sense will go a long way. Warm Regards, Lei
