Did you used to shop at Dolce & Gabbana?
I didnt live here when the DolceGabbana used to be here I like their clothes they are my favorite label so I buy their stuff either from local boutiques, saks,or other DG stores. and since we had the first in america it be nice to have one again Dolce&Gabbana or a D&G. Whats the big deal if I want one in Houston?
-
That is cool now only if Dolce & Gabbana will give the Galleria another chance.
Co-Op is smaller than the Mainline Barney's New York Deptartment store correct?
-
I'm sorry Im not a fan of that UH neighborhood even though nice homes are in it they are sort of ghetto mansions some are so worn down I couldnt imagine building a new mansion or mcmansion in the neighborhood with some many other desirable choices in the Houston metro.

I was house hunting with my cousin the other day in Memorial an I said I wanted to move in River Oaks(if I could ) She said River Oaks had a lot of racial undertones because they had Deed restrictions until 1986 saying minorities an jewish ppl live there. Is this true? (its hard for me to believe this

What new stores are moving inside the old Lord&Taylor section?
-
I like townhomes the most Houston has a lot of tasteful 3 story meditterian ones inside the loop

Why is Westheimer so ugly after you get past Fountainview I mean the thing looks like Beriut Blvd its so dirty looking. They should have a major beautification project for it since its the main street for Houston. They have no city right of way green space just that ugly brown sidewalk all up on the road. an nothing in the middle just a big cement giant.
PS Has anyone been to that Walmart

The people that are looting for televsions, vcrs, dvd players, let them fight each other off. People like this are the scum of the earth. I saw one person on tv trying to steal a fur coat for Saks. Come one people! It is wet and 100 degress outside.
Shut up you cant be serious

While most of us may see that this is a small group of criminals, there are still far too many who stereotype the small group

The only major upscale store I can't think off that Houston has lost would be Dolce & Gabbana wich closed around 1995. I still remeber having
Barney's New York
3 Marshall Field's
3 Saks fifth Avenue
3 Lord & Taylor
2 Neiman Marcus
FAO Schwartz
But of course Barney's, Marshall Field's, and Lord & Taylor pulled out of Texas not just Houston. FAO Schwartz went broke and closed every single store, but just a few years ago opened New York's Flagship store and one in Las Vegas. But come to think about it those all opened in the 80's when Houston's economy was real strong. I'm not saying Houston's economy is bad right now, I'm saying it was kinda when Houston became to change from cow town to a more international and became what we are today.
I read in the Dallas Morning News a couple of weeks ago that there were rumors that Barney's New York was thinking of re-opening in Dallas at Northpark and that Bloomingdale's was thinking on opening in Dallas Galleria. It also said that both companies wouldn't comment on those rumors. I'm not trying to put down Dallas but I dought both will open in Dallas, I wish atleast one of those would take Macy's spot when its vacated that would really help Galleria 3........
Where were all these Saks an Marshall Fields at?
-
Dun Dun Dun!!!! Anyway wow that is pretty impressive they had a Armani Collection store an to be the first in the US even better kind of like Houston an DolceGabbana. Texas seems to get a lot of credit from designers just not everything works out
-
LMAO yea right Walmart has to much trailertrash in its doors to pull a target move they would have to to make the size much smaller an completley redesign each an everystore
-
Prada, Roberto Cavali, D&G, Diesel, Escada, Manolo Blahnik, Jean Paul Gaultier, Hugo Boss, DKNY, Valentino, and others.
True I think it should be a mix of high end designers like the ones mention(which it will probably naturally attract) we can already add Hermes as a new tenant since they agreed to be there, and locally owned boutiques we be fitting of it an a upscale bistro or two
-
Okay Like OMG Whatever I totally dont care as long as daddy buys me new Louis Vuitton!!! LMAO
Okay back to reality a little to vain even for my taste(an I love fashion)
Atlanta Lennox/Phipps is indeed upscale Lennox:Bally,Louis Vuitton, hugoboss, burberry, versace jeans couture, neimans your trying to that mall isnt upscale then I dont know what is. Phipps interior wise is one of the nicest ive seen. Saks,Jeffery NYC, Versace Gucci.etc to say theses to malls arent upscale is riduclous an personally ive walked across the intersection to get to both its not that hard but most would prefer to go valet to valet in the new rover lol
Perimeter is nice Memorial/Woodlands uppermiddle class upscale still a nice mall indeed just had to clarify that but not exactly lennox/phipps
Dallas: No way they are gonna see a fall in the highend shopping unless the economy goes completely bust, an still the ppl who can really afford those stores would still shop there.
Dtown/Htown TX exclusives. I love how we have two well known power cities an now that Austin an San Antonio are coming up both already have saks which cuts it for me in the upscale realm plus SA is moving up more so we have 4power places in our Country of Texas lol.....But Ive noticed the difference in the I have you have power plays..Houston has big time designer bad boys..YSL,Fendi,Dior,Giorgio Armani,Global Louis Vuitton store(for u int'l enthusist )(damn i wish we still had dolcegabbana) Dallas has stores with rarer locations(not to say one is better than other both equal) Escada,D&G,Loro Piana,Jil Sander,Nicole Miller etc. Cant really find words to wrap it up but if one doesnt have it the other does so you can get all your jetset shopping done in our wonderful state. Plus both have more than Chicago minus prada OOOOHHHHHH Joke (please dont start on that)
-
^^^ Are you in the industry? you know a lot about it
-
Whoah what is with the Uptown vs. downtown war I dont see how you can compare them since they serve different purposes. Uptown is Houston's Glam Zone our Rodeo,Michigan Ave,SouthCoast Plaza its a shopping district. Galleria,Uptown Park,Boulvard Place. enough said. Downtown( i like both) is a finacial power house that can offers something different nightlife an residential that everyone is clamoring for plus a train I dont know if I want rail in uptown where would it go?
-
I dont understand the issue of frontage roads. Some urbanplanning or zoning codes for buildings would be nice.
-
That sucks that the Prada closed there hopefully they will still consider opening a Houston store. What do they mean in the article the 80's Dallas customer was different?
-
I think this might be an urban myth
