Yep, the entire city would have to be under 20 ft of water before a resident in that building is flooded. At that point, we'd have bigger problems than some flooded cars in their garage.

Just my opinion, but I'd think the area in between will need to take off first. Might be 10 - 15 years outside the loop given how long I saw midtown take to get a true synergy going. The other issue is that you have 610 cutting off walkable/biking access... so it's not as convenient as something along south main within 610.

I couldn't agree more. TMC3 is going to reshape the city. Too many new, high paying jobs, attracting people from typically very urban places (Boston, etc.) mean there will be massive interest in living close to work in the south Houston area.

I've been saying it for awhile now... but S Main is going to be the new hot place. TONS of large lots occupied by old apartments in (what are now) prime locations.

They'd be dumb to not take advantage of the added activity at street level. Hopefully they don't wall themselves off with parking at ground level.

I like HEB, but this is just plain stupid considering proximity to the other location (unless they plan to sell the Buffalo Speedway one). I'm sick of having to drive that far already and need them to open a damn HEB for the med center.

The healthcare sector had the largest net positive change in jobs last month compared to May 2017 than any other sector. Admittedly, your sector, information IT is not doing that hot.

 

My wife is patient facing. MD/PhD, good friends with the CEO of Houston Methodist Research Institute. I am well aware of the clinical, basic research and administrative issues. As far as we can see since Trump became president, things are great. We recently moved to Chicago so my wife could accept a position at Northwestern Medical. The general economy in Chicago is not that great, however, even Healthcare is doing amazing up here. But feel free to clue me in regarding the landscape once you have treated a patient or written a grant proposal to NIH. 

Actually I'm published and do work on the clinical side daily (currently working to integrate AI to do a better job at predicting outcomes). While you seem keen on Trump, I suggest you look at the outpouring of healthcare orgs against the current house (and current Senate) bills. Yes, healthcare is doing great following Obamacare. That's what you're seeing. Trump has literally done nothing yet other than introduce uncertainty in the healthcare market.

Healthcare IT Architect here. Those growth numbers are due to growth under Obamacare. They've started to slow hiring recently based on uncertainty in the markets with Trump. If the Senate Bill passes, we've already been told that the Medicaid cuts will have a detrimental impact on our business. You clearly are clueless when it comes to the reality of the healthcare landscape.

Will the hotel and condos share the pool?

I don't think I've been this excited about a building in some time. It could have some incredible views from it and really change the landscape of how the TMC skyline moves south. Really hoping it's not some bland box.

Any renderings for this available? I'm coming up empty on my searches.

Do I get a prize for starting one of the most active, long running threads?

Kind of disappointed. Those photos look like carnival rides off 45 that would be setup in a random parking lot.

When I think of TMC I now extend that definition all the way down to the women's center and ask the way east to the Veterans complex. I think housing in that triangle made my the original TMC area, the women's hospital and the Veterans complex would work.

 

Apart from MD Anderson that are between fanning, OST, Braeswood and Cambridge is basically empty. Lots of room for development and would link the fragments of TMC.

I agree about those parts. I was defining TMC as the main hospital system areas. I'm down Southwest of TMC and agree even s main has tremendous potential.

If there were residential components ingrained in TMC it would be the most urban feeling area of Houston. I can imagine TMC being twice the size by now if residential was part of the deal from the start.

Residential on the outskirts makes tons sense, but not on the interior. Our response times could be negatively impacted by throwing other types of visitors/traffic in the mix. Also, the TMC is going to start getting taller (hence this project added 19 floors on top of an existing 6).

They must have found my old posts on here from 2013 . I've been arguing for this design for a long time and am glad to see it coming

Houston needs this. At work (I'm an IT Architect at a big hospital in the TMC) we're starting machine learning to analyze data of our patients and get into predictive models to better treat them. Data science in healthcare alone has the potential to change the world and Houston should be at the forefront. It wouldn't surprise me if we get to a point where (based on your vitals and data alone) we can predict when you're in danger of a medical emergency occurring so that we can preemptively treat you (or improve staff response times). Turner + any other Houston should rally around this for the UT land location given its proximity to the TMC and potential benefits to our economy.

The grills allow some airflow across the battery container (at least on my Leaf it does). They also have the AC radiator.
