Good question. It would be nice if on-site parking is located in the back.
It looks like there will be side parking but I can't tell if the parking will be directly in front of the building as well.

Does anyone know if there will be parking up front?

Damn they're moving a bit away from the neighborhood 😵💫

That's a bit of a stretch. That area is ripe for new development as property values Downtown continue to go up. The new hotel going up right behind the arena is a good indicator of this.
No I was saying the area where the Spurs currently play in San Antonio would be the equivalent of if the Rockets built their arena in Sunnyside.

This but unironically. While there's plenty that could be done to make the NRG area less of a giant crater, and I don't necessarily think the area is a total lost cause, I'd definitely take the $2B for Downtown over NRG in a heartbeat.
All that money should be spent Downtown!

I also wonder about NRG Stadium.
I fully expect to start hearing some rumblings about needing a newer stadium in the next decade.
The new stadiums are light years better than what we built in 2000-2002.
Hopefully they will build the new one in Ea-Do so we can have a true sports district.
I honestly think Toyota Center and NRG just needs massive renovations and that should be sufficient.

Yeah I read how they were expecting the arena to spur growth in that neighborhood but it didn't. I wonder if that massive parking lot had anything to do with it instead of building up and around the arena.
No it's the area it's in. It's the equivalent of the Rockets building Toyota Center in the Sunnyside area it's not much around there.

Wow really? The arena they are in now isn't even old
No it's not I grew in between Houston and San Antonio so we got both news stations and remember how big of a deal it was when they planning both AT&T Center and Toyota Center. San Antonio messed up by putting the arena on the east side.

Hopefully they do another exterior renovation 😵💫

Do we get these renderings before we get the Astros district that has been in the works for years?
That's a good question 😵💫
Off topic I see the Spurs want to build a new arena in downtown San Antonio it makes me wonder what we're gonna do with Toyota Center.

"The Victoria City Council awarded the contract for the DeLeon Plaza Expansion Project to Lauger Companies during the Council’s June 20 meeting. The project will include:
- Sidewalk/ADA improvements, including sloping of the lawn to meet the new pavement
- Drainage improvements
- A performance pavilion
- Restroom and storage facility
- General amenity improvements such as shaded seating and more trash cans
- Improvements to the area in front of the Six Flags monument, where the new statue of Victoria’s founding couple, Martín de León and Patricia de la Garza, will be located
Also, the Marsha Shanklin Foundation has donated $300,000 toward the installation of a water feature at the plaza. The inclusion of the water feature is being postponed to give staff time to explore options."
Nice! My sister sent this to me the other day. She works downtown.

A Scottish or Palace INN could work they have great rates and they let you pay by the hour. 🤔

It's embarrassing 😞😞😞
I like Atlanta's subway that goes terminal to terminal. IAH also needs rail to go to the rental car lots instead of the shuttles.

Those concrete walls are expensive and add to the cost per mile of the free substantially. Which is why you only ever see them on highways going through residential areas. Their purpose isn't to hide blight, its for soundproofing so the noise of the traffic doesn't effect neighborhoods.
It still would be nice if we had them to hide blight along freeways.

I was meaning this also.
Kind of like the walls they have going through the city of Bellaire or taller I don't understand why they haven't done that I hate driving down the freeway and seeing cluttered mess especially on 45 😵💫😵💫😵💫

It makes me soo happy that Houston is finally starting to steer away from the traditional shopping centers/ strip centers! This looks great!

I hope the ones around NRG get upgraded one day.
