  1. Cool thanks for the updates. The new "Think outside the loop" billboard is pretty badass that they just put up.
  2. You tend to have negative replies to nearly every post on this forum, or at least so it seems, so I'm probably wasting my time here. None the less, I travel to Oslo, Dubai and Singapore yearly. This isn't any more strip-mallish than the nicer new retail areas of those cities. Two story, geometrical, stone, stained wood, and cutting edge design. Strip malls in Houston are typically sprawling 1 story Styrofoam/fake stucco and tan. Nothing like the attached renderings.
  3. So a couple of interesting things here. New matching blue lights on the condo's next to Balleys/Starbucks and a blue arch added on the new pedestrian bridge from CMex to Memorial City Mall. The biggest thing is new Rendering Banners (which I will try to get a picture of) all around what was once shown as Grass and fountains between the new hospital/Westin and the feeder. What was once grass is now being shown as very cool looking City Center style pedestrian friendly shopping. The architecture (assuming the redering is accurate) looks very cool and reminds me of some buildings I saw in Oslo. Kind of like the adjacent bank, but more slopes and what looked like wooden beams. Pretty awesome. I've also hear that on the North side of the freeway, on Gessner new medical buildings/retail are on the way.
  4. Not sure what that has to do with Gessner being reworked. Maybe I'm missing something? I heard 2013. It's a rough part of town if you are afraid of 75 - 80 year old folks. I've lived here for 4 years and I've never felt scared. When I drive to work at 5:50 am I see white women in their 30's jogging, they don't seem scared.
  5. Great News, Our latest neighborhood Spring Branch Newsletter told us to rejoice as the new designs for the Spring Branch Gessner Corridor are on the drawing board for the run between I-10 and 290. I understand it will be a total overhaul with a lot of decorative additions, flowers, pavers, custom features and monuments. It's been a long time coming but this will have a huge impact on many of the beautiful neighborhoods in the area like Spring Shadows, Spring Woods, etc. Not to mention the dozens of new amazing homes going up and new real estate developments happening in the area.
  6. So everything was lit this morning. The pedestrian bridge, the mall, all the mid rises behind the mall and the hospital with blue lights. It looked like Tron. Pretty amazing. I'll get a picture tomorrow.
  7. My bad, I thought you were flaming me, sorry if I was a dick about it. No need for choice words. As to where the numbers came from, ultimately I do not know but I got them from a promotional pdf issued by CityCenter on their website very early on. It isn't up anymore and can't remember if the sourced thier data.
  8. Am I supposed to be "this guy"? You calling me confused LOL?! And my response to you two bloody years ago on this very same matter... So... when you say "This Guy' doesn't know the difference, you'd better be describing yourself.
  9. By Demographic Center they mean, the richest Zip Code in Texas, the statistics are posted earlier in this very thread. No small part due to Memorial, I was surprised too, I would have guessed somewhere in Dallas or even River Oaks, but they weren't even close. It's the old money of Memorial.
  10. Thanks. I think this community's reputation is really spreading. The closeness of all the neighbors in Spring Shadows reminds me of Heights BLVD when I lived there. Just last night my wife and I took our little girl for a walk and we were stopped twice in 15 minutes by frinedly neighbors introducing themselves, and the streets are always busy with family traffic and casual pedestrians. We feel very safe here.
  11. It's close, still lots of handrails to finish as well as the infinity pool. Across the way the Cheesecake factory is framed out, that place looks big.
  12. So, the building behind Memorial City Mall, 10ish story blue glass building just added the same blue light band around the top as the new tower has going up the front. It looks awesome, and it's animated with a white cylinder looking shape that wrapes around from the back and dances back and forth. I was at the light north of I-10 on Gessner this morning for a few minutes and saw one cycle. I really hope this becomes a theme for the area. I saw a lot of that in Dubai and it really looks great to have a district theme on the buildings. Vancouver has done this as well.
  13. Thanks, SSGinSpringBranch. That makes more sense, there's only parking for about 10 cars there. I thought it might be an abortion clinic.
  14. What's with the wrought iron fence all the way to I-10? That's the strangest thing, definately not Chucky Cheese like. There's a gate with a computer panel to get in, 2 times before reaching the building.
  15. Yep, and it's very good. We tried "The Big 8" with a salad. Also they serve alcohol. Definitely worth trying. Now all this location needs is a decent bar. We have tons of awesome drunk food between El Ray, Freebirds, Sushi Pop.
