its actually a pretty cool building and have been checking in on its progress lately as well! i hope they have some good secular shows on the calendar so i can go check it out!
We will be announcing our inaugural season for the new theater within the next week or 2. I think you will be pleased with what we will be offering in the new year (first production will be February 2017), which also coincides with our 50th Anniversary season. Hope to see lots of you at the theater when we open up.

Been creating scenery and lighting for live theater for 25 years now. Have these same masks tattooed on my right arm.

First name is Mark, last name starts with L, and for most of my career in theater I was a Technical Director (TD). I have been promoted and am now the Production Manager, but will probably always leave it as TD.

When is it due to open?
We hope to move in next October and our first production should be in November/December 2016.

I am rather surprised no one has commented here about the fact that construction has commenced on this project. Utilities trenching and drilling for piers is almost complete and concrete should be poured for the foundation by the end of the month.

Are they only doing theist shows?
No. In the early days of the company all of the plays were of a religious nature and many of them were direct re-telling of bible stories. As the company has grown and expanded our programming over the past almost 50 years, we now do a wide variety of productions. We have recently announced our new season, which will begin in September. We are still Christian artists producing theater, but not every show we do is a biblical or religious based show.
Check out our new season and other information about us at http://adplayers.org

I think I saw the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe at the AD Players in the 1990s one time. I am actually pretty surprised they get something like this, it seemed "community theater" back then, not bad just small.
I hope you would assume that any arts organization would grow over 20 or so years. I have been with the theater since the early 90s and we have grown in many ways. I hope you give us another chance now and once we've moved to Westheimer.

There is also going to be a Krispy Kreme on Westheimer between Dunvale and Fondren where the Arby's used to be in the Target parking lot.

Drove by this morning and the tower crane is coming down, guess it is topped out!

Unfortunately, it's been like that for a while.
The Queensbury Theatre is about half done at this point. It's Dueling Community Theaters!
It has been fenced for awhile since Mission Construction moved their trailer to the lot. I am the Production Manager for the theater, and we have been awaiting the lengthy City of Houston permitting process. Construction of our new theater should be commencing by the end of the year.
toxtethogrady - Just to point out that yes, The Queesbury is a community theater, the A.D. Players is not. We have a full time staff of 20 professionals and several contract artists that produce 10 shows a year. In addition, the Queensbury was fortunate enough to have a piece of property that a developer wanted, and I believe that their new building was part of the deal for the land where the old theater was.
The 2015-16 theater season is going to be very exciting for Houston with The Alley moving back into their newly renovated theater, the opening of the new Queesbury Theater, the newly renovated Main Street theater on Times Blvd, the opening of the MATCH, and the opening of the A.D. Players new theater. Very exciting for all of us in the business and our patrons.

They are going to be adding a fly loft to the main stage theater, which generally is 75-80 feet tall, so that would be the reason for the crane. The tower on the Alley will add 45 feet above the existing roofline.

Another good one is the flyover coming off the Westpark tollroad inbound to 59 N.

That's because I believe it is Gables phase 2 of the West Ave. complex. It is right behind West Ave. and appears to be a near mirror image of the oppisite corner.

I saw that they are "now training" at the location on Westheimer just west of Fondren. Thought it was just a Big Bang Theory punchline too until I saw this the other day.

Anyone know what is going into the former funeral home on Kirby between Richmond and Alabama? I have seen a lot of construction activity going on there and saw a sign for a liquor license application on the door the other day. Wonder where the kitchen will be?

I am the resident designer/technical director for the A.D. Players, and I can assure you the project is not dead. We have had a some difficulties in our fundraising with the downturn in the economy (but what non-profit hasn't). For further information, or better yet to make a donation, contact our development office through our website www.adplayers.org

Reminds me of a joke I heard once:
There were 3 men at the urinal in a public restroom. The first man finished, went to the sink, washed his hands and then took 1 papertowel. By this time the 2nd man was washing his hands, and he scrubbed and scrubbed. They both looked at each other, and the first man said "I went to Berkley and they taught us conservation". The second man said " I went to BYU and they taught us cleanliness is next to Godliness". By this time the third man finished and was holding the door open for the other 2. He looked at them and said "Well, I went to the University of Texas, and they taught us not to piss on our hands."

However, I think it would be confusing and disruptive to have part of a major artery have a different name.
As someone mentioned before, Hilcroft becomes Voss at Westheimer, then becomes Bingle at I-10, so what's one more name change?

Was at the Home Depot tonight and saw that a large building has been added to the side of the PetSmart, anyone know what it is? No signage or anything that I can find, looks to be retail (big and boxy)
Thanks

Cool...maybe someone can snap a couple of shots?
I work nearby, will try to get shots at lunch one day this week. The sign posted at the complex has a website listed at the bottom, but it is not up yet. Kind of annoying when they do that. www.collectionliving.com is the site, but it just comes up as under construction. Was hoping to see some floorplans and prices since it is close to work, and closer to the med-center for wife's work too.

Does anyone know what's happening at the old Mama's Cafe location on Westheimer? Saw some work crews/porta-john/etc. last week? Any ideas?
