That address comes up as the parking lot next to #s on Google Maps. #s is at 300 Westheimer. The parking lot seems to be owned by a different entity than either #s or El Tiempo.
Not saying that this listing doesn't mean #s is up for lease. I'm definitely going to check with some people in the know ASAP.
Edit: Just noticed the lease includes a 9000sf building. That would appear to be #s.

Oh no. I absolutely abhor rent freezing. I was only wondering if the market could react in a way that would make downtown more competitive. A rent freeze would be a disaster.

I would like to see the companies that I work for/with take up some of the space in the 30-40 year old buildings instead of moving to the suburbs. I've been involved in 2 moves to the suburbs because of the high cost of office space in the core. Shouldn't some of the space being opened up by the flight to quality make the older buildings more affordable or is there some economic reason that this doesn't work.
Bottom line, why do I have to work in Sugarland or halfway to Katy when there is empty space downtown? Maybe we need to stop upgrading to attract new tenants and invest that money in lowering lease rates to attract more businesses to the core.

Tower crane is going up today. I’d post a photo but they all show up sideways from iPhone.

Did you see crane sections or was that my imagination?

quick question - is the completed glass building in the background with AWS and that yellow arrow symbol anything to do with Amazon ? If it is, I think that is so awesome ! But, do correct me if its something else entirely.
Yes.

I walked by that park daily for years. Maybe it’s better now but back then around 2009 it really was used for drug sales and use quite a bit. I wouldn’t say it should be demolished but maybe reworked somehow.

strikes me as a quick one
I agree. It took a long time to start but once they did it’s gone quickly. I see a reduced crew working on Saturdays.

Getting control of three blocks full of residential in this location would be quite the feat and also very expensive.
Using the word “metonymically” in promotional materials makes me take them less seriously.

I walk my dogs past this site daily. Lots of work being done but it is not apparent. From my observation it seems they have been working on drainage, fire water and grade elevation. For a couple of days there were trucks full of dirt unloading every few minutes. It seems they are raising the elevation of the high rise site. They appear to be moving slowly but the site is HUGE.

I was in college starting in the mid 80's to late 80's at UT but grew up in Houston going to clubs such as Power Tools, NRG, Red Square, Numbers, Xcess, 6400, etc. I used to always go into Record Rack every weekend to see friends and say hello to Bruce and buy and listen to the newest club music on the scene at the time. I would literally spend hours in there. I especially loved the rare Razormaid albums and hard to get industrial and electronic items that dj Michael DeGrace played at the clubs that only Record Rack seemed to carry. I will never forget when I came home one time while I was in Houston on a weekend break going into Record Rack and buying a very rare 12' record by the group Call it Heaven called "Feeling Like a Stranger" which cost me $200 for one record. My mother freaked out bigtime! lol.
When cd's first started to get really popular in the late 80's and were replacing the 12' records they were selling there, I knew it was only a matter of time before not only the scene would change but that the music itself would change. And then it happened with the early 90's and the grunge scene with Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice N Chains, Soundgarden, etc becoming so popular and the club music I grew up on and loved so much just seemed to die. I went back a couple of times into the store after I graduated college and moved back to Houston and though I loved seeing Bruce still there, it just didn't have the same excitement or ambience as it did when I was in late high school to my college years. I loved Record Rack but it was never the same after the late 1980's. Not the same feel, not the same crowd in there and of course all the music I grew up loving replaced by rock and grunge. Hated seeing it close after being an institution for all those years. I'm 53 years old now but I will always cherish my memories of the great times I had in that store, the friends I made, the crazy and very late nights out on the club scene during those years and of course the legend himself Bruce Godwin. Thanks for making those years the best years of my life.
I have 2.5 crates full of Razormaids! All the chapters, die cuts, and class-x plus most of the rest. Joseph Watt came over to my house for a party a couple years ago and signed a few of them. We played them all night and he told stories about each song. 😄- 2

The North lot that borders Allen Parkway is being partially cleared now. I figure it will be the lay down yard. Nothing worth photos this week. It’s still just an empty lot with earth moving equipment on it.

All this talk about sewage reminded me of this paper I read a few years ago about historical sewage treatment in Houston. It seems like a boring subject but is actually very interesting to me.

Record exchange, sound exchange and of course record rack are the ones I remember. We would go to #s on Friday and record rack on Saturday. Bruce would help us identify the songs from the night before. I remember a friend spending $140 for the 12” of don’t walk when we all made about $4 an hour.

Read that in a german accent for some reason; "Un" "Der" Story"
That is quite reasonable and I shall pronounce it that way henceforth. I imagined Baron Von Underbeheit’s accent too.

The Galleria Mall At 5085 Westheimer Rd.

I enjoy going to ROD. My attitude towards a trip to the Galleria is “Oh crap, I have to go to The Galleria.”
