  1. I actually teach at Cy-Ridge HS. I will say that, while it is true that the population is very diverse ( a good thing), it is an extremely safe school. It does not have the same population as Cy-Fair or Cy-Woods (opened in 2006), but is clearly not the most "at-risk" school in the district in terms of incidents and issues. The administration is outstanding and is effective with every incident that occurs.

The biggest complaints was the broad spectrum of areas that Cy-Ridge drew from, but that issue was central in discussions back in 2002 and 2003 primarily, when the school opened. Talk to parents of students who go there and you will find them to be very pleased about how the school is handled. Walk through the halls and you will find that it is very safe. The 2005 report of "persistently dangerous" status was due to the fact that everything that comes up is acted upon whereas other schools would ignore.

Of course I am biased, but if what I stated was not true, I likely would not have posted anything on this issue. Cy-Ridge is a great place to teach, and for students to learn.

  2. The original link to the site plan that was provided at the top of this thread had store names included (not as a list, but as a label in each respective spot). Of course, that link doesn't work any more -- but it does suggest that at least some of the outlets have been determined.

I'm not sure if the list that was posted later matched it or not, but my guess is that it doesn't -- I specifically remember that the food court area had no labels on the site plan, and the list above includes some food court restaurants. Having said that, my impression is that the stores on the site plan were pretty similar to those in the list, so the list may be pretty good indication of the types of stores that will be here.

Assuming, of course, the site plan linked above wasn't pure fiction. :)

Sounds a lot like the outlet center up in the Poconos called "The Crossings".

It's a shame that outlet centers don't have more of a selection of food places. I wish I knew more about what they'd have in the way of eating.

I saw Eddie Bauer on the list. Aren't they closing?

  3. Since there are no malls in this area, which is absolutely booming, this will be a success no matter what on its own. Lots of young families, teenage kids, etc - ideal consumer demographic. Then add in the Houston people and all of the college kids coming/going via 290 to Austin, College Station, Waco and beyond and you've got a sure-fire hit.

I also like the outdoor concept.

I'm interested in seeing what they've got planned for the Town Center portion, as it is supposed to be twice the size.

You'd think that development would follow northward as a result. However, if you look at development in Conroe, the major construction seems to end as you move from Conroe ISD into Willis ISD (and does not really take off again until you reach Huntsville). The same may hold true on 290. Cy-Fair ISD ends once you move north of Fairfield. Waller has not particularly developed the way Tomball has and it may take a LONG time for it to do that. That may slow down growth past Fairfield until you reach, say, Brenham.

Cy-Fair ISD is a HUGE selling point for developers with its repuation being what it is.

  4. I spoke to Jim Robertson of the CCFCC, and the area around the lakes is supposed to be a key anchor park in the Cypress Creek Greenway project.

    Thank you for that information.

I read that too and was wondering when it would happen. I'd think that with the Vintage going up, it would follow quickly. However, what I did read was that bit by bit, the land is getting snatched up for other endeavors. I hope there is enough area there to actually enjoy a nice peaceful walk.

  5. Three questions concerning the Vintage Park area.

    (1) I noticed on the site a "Coco's" being listed. Does anyone know whether that is one of the Taiwanese fast-food type restaurants or is it the nicer Coco's they have in Ohio?

    (2) 25,000 square feet have been designated for a book store. They apparently reserved it for one of the two major chains: Barnes & Noble or Borders. Does anyone know which book store will go up at the Vintage?

    (3) Finally, the area near the small lake at Cypresswood and 249 has been owned by HP for a long time. There is scuttle that the area around it will become a park with trails (although I can't see how large it could be). Does anyone know of the status on this? All sites are old and there has been no update.

    Thank you!

  6. I remember when Sealy had an outlet mall, now it is a community college.

I see the same fate for this one too.

I am new here. I did not realize I could post.

As a major venture on the way to both Austin and College Station, this will most likely not turn into a college anytime soon. HOWEVER, the summer months will be a killer.
