I love this forum.
I think the design is interesting enough to be noteworthy, and the name is unusual enough to be memorable. As long as people drive by and say, "hay, did you see that little bridge? that's pretty cool" I am satisfied.
I'll have to concede that the name is a little awkward, but let's be honest, its only a pedestrian bridge---no one will refer to it by name.

I like the design very much and think it will compliment OPP and the park nicely.

Problem with deliveries may delay the opening of Lucky Strike until the end of the year. Originally scheduled to open Wednesday. See Swamplot. Cool pic. Hope that's what ours is going to look like.
The Lucky Strike in Hollywood and Las Vegas are re'donk. I can't imagine the Houston branch not following the design of other locations.

the weekday lunch crowd is not a relevant barometer for HP's success.
The weekend lunch crowd is irrelevant? I beg to differ---the weekday lunch crowd will be a vast majority of the patrons.

Recent topic on Swamplot:

Sordid, banal, vapid pastiche bastardization of a design:
vs
Modern design:
I certainly hope the latter is built, rather than the former.
I prefer the "orid, banal, vapid pastiche bastardization..." I think the stone and terracotta fit more with the "San Jose" name. The design is warm and welcoming. The "modern" design looks less institutional and, consequently, less fitting for a hospital.

I seem to remember this thread discussing that Chuy's lease was set to expire and the owner was not renewing---presumably in favor of the West Ave developers.

They need a cowboy hat store to appeal to tourist conventioneers.
LOL! That's a great idea! Maybe a Cavender's or Shepler's.

I will grudgingly conceed [sic] . . . highrise condo money is just not there.
My two cents:
I took it upon myself to edit your post for brevity.
Also, is your quote a joke: "Vote for John McCain. You don't have to like him, respect him, or really have any expectation that he's going to be a good president (I certainly don't). The important thing is that he isn't a classist scumbag. He is not Barack Obama. And that is sufficient."
Maybe TheNiche isn't omniscient after all. Cue the flame war.

Not true. Not sure where you are getting your info, but my source tells me that a lease has been finalized and is ready for signature. This deal is DONE and a press release will be issued very soon.
A deal cannot be "done" if it is only "ready for a signature."

Who puts on the Nutcracker Market each year at Reliant? Is it the Ballet?
I didn't know there was a Nutcracker at Reliant. I've only seen the one at the Wortham Center, and its been years a while.
-
Last I checked, the Houston Ballet is a non-profit organisation. Spectacular buildings cost money. The best way to influence the design of this new building is to help ensure that the ballet has the necessary funds to build something worthy of your praise.
Can we all assume that you guys are contributing to the ballet's building fund to make sure we get a suitably spectacular structure? Shasta? Velvet?
Lol'd
Maybe I'll go see the Nutcracker again before Xmas.

Something I did for fun a few weeks ago. None of the photographs are mine. I just borrowed them to see how the Brookfield tower would impact our beautiful skyline. I also took the liberty of adding Discovery Tower on some of these. It's all in fun.
Well done.

They ought to turn the Astrodome into a giant roller disco. Talk about mad fun.

Very kool. Must be on that parking lot at Houston Ave. and Dallas. I know they are building a huge parking garage there; right in front of the Double Tree.
-
Drove by this long-vacant lot the other day, and I noticed that there was construction on the northeast corner of Taft and West Grey. There must be a topic for this lot, but I couldn't find it.
I hope they don

From earlier in the week when they were completing the 37th floor...
Very nice pictures. Cheers.

The longhorn makes me think they have determined their market is largely foreign nationals, who still associate Texas with cowboy imagery. Somehow I doubt that local jillionaires buying units do anything as time-wasting and common as surfing the net looking at floorplans.
Lol, I agree.

Not to mention they had to remove Hotel Montague.

As a government owned entity, they have virtually no liability. State and local governments are immune from liability under the Tort Claims Act. In addition, they are also immune under the Civil Practice and Remedies Code for government owned land used for certain recreation purposes, including skateboarding.
Actually, states and their subsidiaries are

OMG, just put the damn TV screens up already! What difference does it make? I can't believe we've been arguing over whether TV screens will change the world for three pages. Let me say: they are not going to solve any problems.
I don't see myself standing on the sidewalk in the middle of the afternoon to watch CNN, but it is kinda cool to have "sizzle" around what is supposed to be a pedestrian mall. For the record: I'm smart and I like sizzle.

My office overlooks the site, and construction workers are out there every day. In that regard, I don't know how anyone could say the project is "stalled."

LOL, who's down with OPP?
Sorry, been out-of-pocket for a while.
