I rode the trail today and took some pictures of the new bridge. It's pretty cool but unfortunately STILL not open to the public, although it looks like construction is finished. Also I got to check out some of the trail improvements which are great but unfortunately the trails aren't all connected yet and there are still many dead ends and places where you have to go around "do not enter" signs if you want to ride them (many people were). I wonder when this project is supposed to be complete.

Wow it's looking really good. This definitely gives that part of the village a very different feeling.

I don't like the architecture as much as other parts of Midtown Square, but I do like the fact that it has got ground level retail. It's hard to complain when these guys are the only people adding retail in a new apartment building in Houston right now.

It's true! It's not a great photo but it IS the shuttle on the back of a 747. Check out my photo stream in my signature for more/better shuttle photos.

Here's the crane at Richmond Landing. And what's that thing in the background? Oh nothing, that's just the Space Shuttle...

I noticed that today too.

Oh I see, that was my 2nd thought but I was not sure which it was.

I'm pretty sure this is Richmond Landing in the background. Finally to the point where I can see it from my roof!
[EDIT: Photo removed because it was incorrect].

Not the greatest photo, but I took this as I drove by the other day.

I got to go up on the roof of the Esperson building last week. I actually work there but I just figured out how to get access to the roof. It was pretty awesome. Here are some photos.

I noticed that there was construction equipment on the lot and dirt was being moved on Friday. Looks like this is for real now, not just another false start. I'll move this to "Going Up".

This is looking good!

I saw this on Swamplot today. It doesn't seem like it's for sure but I hope that they do something with this building and not tear it down. I hope they keep the retail on the street level too.

I kept pasting the link and it didn't show anything so I did it again, until it showed up, and now somehow it's 4. Weird. Fixed.

It's across the street from the parking lot that this thread is talking about. I think it's the lot that used to have the "Binz Med Corp" sign on it, which was never developed. I drove by last weekend and noticed a fence is now up around the lot.

I keep noticing a lot being cleared on Travis and Milam on my way to work in the morning. Does anybody know what's going on there?

This is awesome. I'm really looking forward to another alternative to the mainstream movie theaters, and I'll be very happy to have a theater I can walk/bike/rail to. Midtown is really rocking lately!

Agreed. First mixed use building in the village with both housing and retail, right?
-
I wish we could see the drawings. A 27 foot set back on that part of Montrose sounds bad, even if it does have a garden in front. If it has outdoor seating its not as bad though I guess. I like the fact that there will be bike racks, but PLEASE NO CAR PARKING IN FRONT!
-
Sounds great. Let me know if they start to move some dirt and I'll move this thread in "going up".

HAIF / iOS 6 make it very easy for me to upload a photo from my iPad now. Cool!
