  1. I'd doubt it. Houston isn't really known for it's telecommunication industry... whereas Dallas is pretty famous for it. DFW airport is more centralized in the country making travel easier. Plus, they have a large office complex in downtown Dallas. It's like asking if an oil company would pick Houston over Dallas.
  2. Hmm, ok. No one posted to the thread for about a month so perhaps that how it makes it to the archive section (which I didn't find until after my original post here). I wonder if that's an automatic thing?
  3. I would say there's no point in comparing them since they're completely different. Lower Greenville in Dallas is a couple miles long and runs through residential areas (M streets, etc, with way overpriced homes) and consists of 3 main sections. Houston main street is, well, downtown on Main street. Greenville Ave could use some repaving in places... maybe a couple more dance clubs and more live music instead of so many bars/restaurants. Parking is a pain but that doesn't stop anyone. Houston Main street could use more patrons throughout the day everyday (weekend mornings, etc). /shrug I don't see the point in comparing them.
  4. Two tower cranes are working on the garage. It's taken them a while to get to surface level... which is about where it is today. There's really not much that's worth talking about when a construction project is just working on the hole. Why do you think they deleted the Victory Tower thread? It's right here... http://forum.dallasmetropolis.com/showthre...hlight=mandarin FUD?
  5. It looks like it's in downtown to me. Oh wait, that's because it is!
  6. Detroit Lions played in Pontiac for >25 years.... New York's not even in the same state! And no one cares....
  7. Only the very edge of Uptown would be included... maybe just the Crescent, W or ZaZa. Friends of mine from Manhatten, Boston and "downtown" Dallas say they consider Victory to be downtown. In fact, they looked at me like I was nuts for even asking. Stand at The House or W and look up, it's downtown.
  8. During the countless times that I've been in Dallas, I've made that walk, well, countless times. It indeed takes ~2 minutes to get from the old Dallas Alley (West End) to Hooters. If you get stopped crossing the street, then it might take longer. Hooters to the W is maybe an addtional 5 minutes. Victory is downtown. There's no doubt about it. In fact, it's almost closer to "downtown" than say the Farmers Market (which is inside the loop) or even Deep Ellum. It's closer to "downtown" than Reunion (which is inside the loop). Victory, Uptown, McKinney, West Village, it's pretty much all one big neighborhood. My wife and I walked it all just a few weeks ago when we were in town. It was easy.
  9. Lol, my point stands. It's basically a pin-hole webcam shot with incredibly limited site into the Victory project. The offices in that plaza were just completed. There's barely been anytime for people to move in. The building to the right is high rise residential still under construction (that means there's no one living there to be walking around!) Most Victory buildings are still under construction. Your assumptions are entertaining.
  10. For the record, I agree you're not confused. On a side note, it's amazing how people who have never been to Victory try and draw conclusions from what looks like pin-hole camera photos... or photos with extraordinarily limited views of the landscape.
  11. No, access to Victory is very easy without the train. ------ Victory is mostly a construction zone still. It's obvious that activity will pick up when construction slows down. Most people would prefer not to live/work where there's that much disruptive activity.
  12. I guess that's what it looks like in Houston as well. I'd say Dallas easily beats Houston for the better season....
  13. I think "energy capital of the world" is a bit of an overstatment for Houton. Maybe at one point Houston was the oil (and natural gas) capitol of the world, but hardly the "energy capitol" in the strictest sense. How much coal does Houston produce for the world? How much electricity? How much nuclear power? Solar? Geo-thermal? Hydro? There was a quote in one of the articles about the move of Halliburton that said, "There's no oil left in Texas". Relatively speaking, that's a correct statement. "Energy" is a very broad word....
  14. ^^ I'm sure you're just talking about freeways in general, but have you ever been to Boston? I've spent a ton of time there. The old central artery was "nothing" like Dallas' Woodall Rogers. The central artery was a massive beast... Woodall Rogers is nothing like it and doesn't divide the city anywhere near as much as Boston was divided. Overall, Woodall is pretty pedestrian friendly for a freeway. It's interesting how everyone I talk to in Dallas-FW considers Victory part of downtown... it's only residents from other areas that "think" it's outside of downtown.
