New construction at 1885 Saint James Place

New construction of a 135,000-square-foot office tower, described as a “boutique” building because it is not large, although it will have top quality finishes @ 1885 Saint James Place is going to
replace “one of the city's most photographed locations” - an iconic wedding venue, that was a part of Houston history.

    The Wortham Theatre Grand Foyer

Morris, a Huitt-Zollars company, provided architectural design services beginning in 1983 for this $70 million, 450,000-SF performing arts complex, which contains a 2,200-seat theatre for the Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet, and a 1,100-seat theatre for use by repertory and touring companies. Both stages (The Brown Theatre and The Cullen Theatre) are on the same level. The Grand Foyer serves as the lobby for both houses.

Points of View Sculpture by James Surls in Market Square Park @Travis and Congress

The 25-foot painted steel and wood sculpture Points of View was created for the park in 1991. Previously positioned at the center of the park, it now stands above a gentle water feature at the base of the dining trellis. The walkways at Market Square are paved with masonry salvaged from demolished (and some standing) buildings as a reminder of the neighborhood's history.
