The West University Shamrocks, in the late 60s and early 70s was the greatest pop warner football team in world history. The Shamrocks motto was, Be a Champion Be a Shamrock ☘️. We had the greatest coaches like Charles Frank Milstead Senior, Gene Teas, Cox, Pratt, Staples, Buchanan, and Dave Devine. We had Godfrey, Milstead Jr., McAdams, Pratt, Coulter, Hefley, Wittenburg, Keller and the list goes on. We always beat the Brazosport Red Devils. We were State champions beating a team from Dallas that was TWO years older than we were. We mowed them down left and right and sent them packing back to Dallas as LOSERS!!! And had several seasons of going undefeated. We were like a little group of professional football players, period!! Well coached, well drilled and super disciplined.
