After hearing the news about Austin's major setbacks this week, I'm glad to see that Houston is taking a slower pace at growth and not putting the cart before the horse. Steady wins the race. Oracle has decided to move to Nashville, stating that Austin is not a good town for startups due to lack of funding, cost of living and the fact that Austin, isn't what people thought it would be. Tesla to lay off 2,500 workers, thanks to Elons ability to ruin things with his poor judgement. He might be a genius but he talks too much and a lot of things he says rubs a lot of people the wrong way. Several of the new office towers coming online have no one to fill them to go along with an empty Google building and the stories concerning the fact that many of the tech companies are going back to Silicon Valley, Houston and other places, doesn't bode well for the new tallest building in Texas.

One of the other reasons Oracle moved to Nashville is to be closer to the healthcare industry. Too bad they didn't consider Houston... With Helix park under construction alongside levitt green the ceo could have given us a chance. I mean we do have the biggest med center in the world.

Landscaper told me they were adding 10 trees, 3 so far. What kind of trees are these?

Looks like those are American Sycamore trees. Love the white bark they have the green leaves stand out during the springtime because of it.

  3. Its amazing how the Port of Houston generates about $900 billion with $400 billion going to taxes yet the city of Houston hasn't developed some of its infrastructure around the port or even in the entire city generally. You would think a city generating this much income for the state and nation would look somewhat maintained.

  4. I sort of wanted medical center and downtown to converge into one to create this massive skyline. Houston just lacks industry for downtown to expand at all. Seems like most of the different industries are going to either Dallas or Austin and were stuck with oil/gas and medical. Even oil/gas companies are leaving downtown and going to the outskirts of Houston. I really don't want midtown to turn into another mostrose or heights filled with townhomes. I would give it a 3 hopefully the ion lives up to its expectation and maybe attracts developments that are similar across midtown.
