  1. Of the dozen or so condo proposals on the board, which one will actually get built?

I can promise you that this one is happening. Groundbreaking is set for October. If you drive by you can see the sales / leasing center. One of the towers will be for lease and will be built immediately; the other tower will be condo. Both the garage and 1 acre amenity deck will go up with the first tower (for lease). Hopefully they will have enough presales to build the second tower (condo) at the same time. I know ill be buying a unit if that helps.

  2. Heres the latest rendering and plan for the building

Restaurant Depot picks empty Kmart for entry into Houston

    Allison Wollam and Margaret Allen

    Houston Business Journal

A national restaurant supply wholesaler has leased part of a shuttered Kmart building in the Heights to serve as its springboard into the Houston market.

The Restaurant Depot is taking 75,000 square feet of space at 1431 W. 20th St. to serve as a cash-and-carry operation selling supplies and food to local restaurants. The store is scheduled to open in September.

  4. just fyi, that rendering above is years old and was only of the Saks site (you can see the cafe Annie / eatzis center to the right). Although the development will be mixed-use and very dense, this is not it. looks cool though

And they are working on something like this for downtown, the Houston Pavillions (mentioned in another thread somewhere).

  5. im just saying that that rendering was released last year and i know that that wont be whats done. I have no idea when something will happen to this building, but it sure doesnt make financial sense for someone to buy it and demo the building, youd be better off buying raw land near it and building ground up. someone will ultimatly convert it into condos or something.

If Whole Foods Market Is Part

    New Apartments Sell Briskly

The sheer size and glamour of the 74-story Met 3 condo tower in Miami should be enough to bring in buyers. But with more than 50,000 condos in development in the city right now, what really sets Met 3 apart is the Whole Foods Market that fills its ground floor.

    THE NIGHTFLY

    Sammy's Way

A former Gallant Knight singer hopes to conquer downtown with his own club

    By Brian McManus

    Published: Thursday, May 12, 2005

Sammy Relford is killing the stage! His face, slick with sweat, is permanently locked in a passionate scowl as he scans the enthusiastic audience for approval. The stage gel lights change from red to blue to green -- each color bouncing off his wet head in turn. Eyes open wildly, arms spread wide like a condor from outer space, he looks like Screamin' Jay Hawkins without the bone in his nose. Meanwhile, his patent-leather wing tips spring back and forth like he's walking in wet mud or running the tire drill at football practice.
