Well, yes, of course it does.  And again, it's hard to imagine anyone thinking spending $500 M to $1 Billion to move the TECO facilities would be a good investment. Especially when you consider, they can't be moved miles away; so the dirt they would move them to would not be hugely less expensive dirt than that on which they are now sitting.

Good point, it's not like they can move them across town. Wonder what Luminare was getting at?

If it would seriously cost, anywhere near the $500 M - $1 B range to move these, it's hard to imagine that being a good investment.

I guess it depends on how much they think that land is worth, huh? But yeah that is a significant amount of change to hand out if you don't know for sure that you're going to make your money back through commercial/residential developments.

It's really becoming something special. My top projects are East River, the Ismaili Center, and TMC3, not including the new bike lanes and street improvements to a few major thoroughfares.

I'm new-ish here and a suburban kid, but gonna have to look into those developments. I have heard of TMC3 and that project is genuinely MASSIVE. Can't wait for it.

Edit: OMG I want to move to that East River development as soon as possible! Looks beautiful.

This is going to be a huge year for development in this city. There are so many big projects that will be close to finished by years end or under construction.

I cannot wait to cover it. I'm beyond excited for the future of this great city. Housing for more and more great, diverse people!

  5. Houston born and raised here: Houston means a million things to me. Most importantly, in my opinion, is diversity. I can talk to people from every walk of life here in Houston. I can learn from people from every single culture and every walk of life. That's not quite possible anywhere else in the world. Here's an Elise Gravel illustration to illustrate why I love diversity so much.
