I do remember you! You probably saw me hobbling along at that point in the race. Did something to my foot and could barely put weight on it but I finished!

Wait, isn't that only like the halfway point? You could barely put weight on it for the next 10+ miles? I woulda gave up so fast.

I also heard Australia from a reliable source who also told me the panels are not metal but a composite material with metal pieces embedded for attachment to the building.

But the biggest challenge, Contreras said, was getting custommade carbon-fiber panels that encase The Allen Lifestyle Pavilion, the standalone retail and restaurant center adjacent to The Residences at The Allen, as well as parts of the hotel-condo building itself.  The silver-colored panels were provided by Australia-based Shape Shift and were manufactured at a factory in Indonesia.

    Now we know for sure!

The company is also moving ahead with plans to kick off the second phase of The Allen’s development. Late next year, the company plans to begin work on a multifamily project that will combine limited retail with luxury apartment living.

Contreras also hopes to land a grocery store for the next phase of the project. “We want to create an environment where everything you need is right there waiting for you,” Contreras said.

That said, DC Partners has canceled plans to include an office component as part of the project. “There is just so much availability in office product in Houston that it didn’t make sense,” Contreras said.

Those are pavers. If its stamped concrete to look like pavers...then you wouldn't do them individually. The entire point of "stamped" concrete to look like pavers is that its cheaper because you are subtracting labor costs.

They are pretty clearly installing pavers in that picture.

I wasn't clear with my comment. I was adding to KirbyDriveKid's comment where he said they often drop those design ideas. I just meant to add that instead of dropping pavers altogether, they'll go the stamped concrete route which I personally don't like. Yes, they're clearly laying pavers in that picture which I like.

  4. It's not the same really, but there are apartments above home depot in Manhattan so it wouldn't be unheard of. And target as ground floor retail has happened before a few times. It really could be a cool area. There's a bunch of other developments going on around the area so we'll just have to be happy with those.

  5. There are a number around here as I've been looking as well. Will at least do a discovery flight. I'm a bit of a nervous flier but super interested in planes. One way I've worked on my fear is learning about planes and flying procedures. Next step is to get in one and fly it.

    These are on my list:

Has anyone else noticed that Cushman & Wakefield is actively trying to lease out Phase II?  States Class A office space 260,000 SF.  This might make sense with the utility connections being installed along with the road work taking  place

I was wondering if anyone new anymore info about this project. I was thinking of moving from the 3rd floor courtyard view to the 4th floor downtown view in the Arlo apartments. I don't really wanna deal with construction noises though. Their website says 2025 as year built.

  7. It looks like its just repaving, but I was hoping for a bigger project. Washington can back up bad here for no real apparent reason. Not sure how to fix it, but longer turn lanes when traveling east on Washington could help. People turning either direction onto Studemont can end up blocking people trying to travel straight through.

  8. Some road work has started between Heights and Studemont on Washington. Does anyone know the details of the project? Is it related to any other projects on Washington like Buffalo Heights District? They have the top layer(s) removed and you can see the red bricks below in some spots. Imagining Washington paved in bricks is a fun thought.
