it's hard to see on any of the photos except this one, but the top right, you can see a walkway, there's an entrance to the building, that is what will be the entry/exit, the portion that still has excavators, and work trucks, that is going to not be open until the complete building is open later this year.
whether Feb5, or later next week, or even early the following week, we're closer than it looks from these photos.
So now we know.

The football ops building is going to be an interesting build to watch. It appears the support footing is already in place on the concourse from the dismantled bleachers.
Also, the roof of the existing structure looks to already have support column structure that was going to be used for expansion up to 60K.
It appears they may have saved a lot of money using the existing support system for part of the new building but we shall see how much of it they will use.- 3

extra info that I have. Feb 5 is the day it will open. however, this opening will only include half of the interior, the other half will be completed a bit later with a temp wall between.
So on February 6th, I will be able to go in there at lunch time and get some food and sit down at a table and eat it.
If you say so.

I noticed in the background of one of your pics, there are townhomes/apartments under construction. There seems to be a lot of these going up north and west of UH. Anything is better than those dilapidated houses.

This article talks about Haven at Elgin but in the last paragraph, it also mentions a new 810 beds student housing project in the planning stages. Does anyone have info on this?

Gross and utterly depressing
Well it's an affordable private student housing building so it's not supposed to be pretty with lots of amenities.
Nearby, there are 2 luxury private student housing buildings that gives you lots of amenities.

That looks like rebar in that fenced dirt area. I guess they are getting ready to pour concrete for a parking lot.
I still don't like the utility poles with no barrier in the parking lot along the street. Someone is going to hit one and cause a dangerous situation. I cannot believe the city approved that.

It's rare that a brand new building looks 40 years old and poorly maintained.
It looks like a sleazy motel or homeless shelter. I'll give it a pass if it's affordable student housing.

I’m surprised you thought this would happen. Houston doesn’t build buildings this tall anymore. I knew it wasn’t going to happen when buzz about this came out.
With employers letting employees work from home, there will be less demand for office space.

Google Maps has new satellite views up as of today. Still about 9 months old but better than the 3-4 year old view.
There seems to be some areas of Houston that are not updated like the UH area and around GRB.
Edit: I was referring to the Google Maps 2D on my cell phone.
Edit again, .: the Google Map on my cell phone finally updated.

Oh no! That means it might sit empty for years going through litigation. Unfortunately, the homeless will probably occupy it during that time.
