  1. I would move in to the house, fix it up, put up a sign that says mogulette lives here, mistakenly believe that it is your land, and live there for 25 years.
  2. Most of the kids on our block, we are zoned to harvard, go to private school. There is one kid that goes to river oaks elementary and one that goes to poe. I am not really sure how they do that. I heard that travis in woodlands heights is a great school.
  3. What happened to the constable program that karen derr was promoting? In light of recent events, it may be prudent to start circulating that email again.
  4. Do you know who did the remodel on that house? The house that we bought a year ago was remodeled in 2001 by (1) Esplanade Homes. They did a great job in merging the original house with the additional space. According to their website they appear to specialize in remodeling projects. (2) This project looked interesting. I think that Allegro started out doing remodels. The owner even lives in a remodelled (3)bungalow. Check out the whole (4) article. It says that the Ashland restaurant project, as discussed in this (5) thread is dead. Something about hundreds of angry email. 5. lol... like this: from the houstonist: Houstonist appreciates all kinds of houses, but for our (imaginary) money, you can't beat a 1920s bungalow. The porches, the big windows, the cool built-ins — they just seem like home to us. Unfortunately, developers seem to be in a rush to tear as many of them down as possible, so it's really nice when we run across a fantastic restoration job like this house in the Houston Heights. Outside, it's a classic '20s Heights house: the inviting wraparound porch, the wooded corner lot, the Craftsman-style details. Inside, many of the historic details remain, including hardwood floors, light fixtures, stained glass windows and fireplaces. But a renovation added some interesting things, like double-sided glass display cabinets, a master bathroom with an antique vanity and period hex tiles and an incredible kitchen with custom cabinets, stainless steel appliances and a shelterporn first: a lighted pot rack. There's also an interesting gallery leading from the front to the back of the house, lined with built-in cabinets and lighted by antique fixtures. And if you have friends over, they can crash in a detached guest house with a private entry, which we would gladly live in: It has hardwoods, too, with custom cabinets and period tile countertops in the kitchen and a lighted built-in desk in the bedroom. And if you want to see all of it for yourself, the house will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. tomorrow. Bedrooms: four. Bathrooms: three. Square feet: 2,860. Price: $637,500. 1) http://www.houstonist.com/archives/art_design/ 2) http://search.har.com/engine/indexdetail.c...mp;backButton=Y
  6. Any thoughts regarding making the heights a historical district?
  7. UPDATE: I had an irrigation system and new sod installed on Saturday. JL landscaping began at 8am and were finished by 4pm. They did a great job. If you are in need of a good landscaper, message me and I will be glad to give you their number.
  8. A lot on harvard and 14th sold for 210 as a tear down. Some people in the same area are trying to get 250 for obvious tear downs. They are still awaiting a buyer. Depending upon location, imo, lot values are between 180 and 220.
  9. I had three other landscapers quote the job. All were significantly lower than the first quote. The guy i decided to go with quoted: 375/zone (rainbird system) and 300 to install a pallet + 1/2 pallet of st. augustine. Which is close to 1100 dollar savings on the original quote. Whew! Also, he does lawn mnt for 80/month which includes: mow, edge, weed. and hedge. My current lawn service is 25/week and all he does is mow and edge. Thanks to everyone that replied for the information.
  10. The houstonpress blog has been a source of entertainment for me for about a week now. It quickly moved to the top of my blog list.
  11. According to the Mexican Minutemen (http://www.myspace.com/MexicanMinuteMen) the billboard is about canadians and the porous northern border... http://www.houstonpress.com/blogs/?cat=15 lol
  12. maybe if diet coke is good for grass i could use mentos and diet coke... http://eepybird.com/dcm1.html
  13. Half of my front yard and my entire backyard needs to be re-sod. Not more than a 1000 sq feet of sod total. Since I can't seem to get the hang of watering, I thought it would be a good idea to have an irrigation system installed at the same time. I have received a quote of close to 4000.00. Is this what a six zone irrigation system with automatic clock in the garage and new sod should cost?
  14. Try John Pfister 281-480-6684. He did a good job on my house and was reasonably priced.
