  1. This is our year. There is no reason why we can't win at least 10 games. Just look at our schedule, as it's the easiest the Texans have ever had since they came into the league. They have the talent (easily). They just need to up their mental game and we'll be there.

  2. Discuss.

Training camp started July 31st. This is easily the best team since their inception. We definitely have all of the pieces. They just need to not commit as many turnovers and they need to improve the red zone efficiency.

  3. I've been here a while and it sure didn't seem like this years ago.

Funny I moved out here years ago because old katy reminded me kind of the little town I grew up in South La. But as the years have passed and we have been swamped with PTA/Soccer mom zombie hoarde it feels like I am in the middle of a California/Dallas clone zone.

I'd say it could be money but you know some of these folks don't have a pot to piss in now that these mega loans have been revoked. But the attitude of I will do what I please and my kids will do what they want still prevails.

I tell you I am a people watcher and it is one hell of a show to see.

If only these Cinco/Seven Lakes moms knew what their daughter's do on the weekends. ;)

I really don't care for Katy that much either. Not much to do except go to parties and just hang out. And since it has been so damn hot, all we have done is swim and stay inside. I almost fainted playing basketball.

But about how these kids act, I see it way too often. They don't act much better than the hoodlums at Times Square on a Friday/Saturday night. Just plain messy. I especially hate it when I walk by the table and I see just a one dollar tip left after dealing with messy kids. Shame.

Oh and Gary is right, the traffic has gotten worse in Katy each year. I-10 isn't bad, but the side streets all suck. Plus, Katy has gotten gangsta . After I took the girl to go see Public Enemies, we went to the Sonic by Cinemark, there was graffiti everywhere by the dumpster. I've seen graffiti more and more, too.

    Bored kids.

  4. Well, I am just only in town once every few months and whenever I come I take as many photos as possible and stay downtown all day ;) I go to school in Arkansas and its terrible but I grew up here and since living in a backwards redneck rural state I have come to cherish downtown and the second I graduate, Im moving downtown if I can find a job here.

You've been at SSP forever though, so I consider you an old-timer. ;)

  5. Great game. The TC exploded when Aaron Brooks made that crazy shot at the end of the third. Couldn't hear a damn thing. Tickets were nearly half off for this game because we lost Game 3 and no one gave us a chance. If we win on Tuesday in LA, Game 6 tickets (go on sale Tuesday at noon), will be through the roof.

  6. I think that it could not only be useful for movies, but also in TV show production. Maybe some shows with live studio audiences. It could be an all around attraction.

Also, the Austin area had studio city going up. Its supposed to be like what Hollywood is to Los Angeles. Does anyone know how that project is going? And One more thing, I think the Dallas area has some sound stage studios, Barney and several other shows are taped there.

I think that Austin studio got canceled, and it moved to SA (where construction hasn't started).

  7. This is good. I remember this museum being super packed on my field trip days. I then remember eating my Lunchables on the lawn/pond/benches just outside the museum and feeding some to the birds. Good time, good times.

Maybe it's not the Duncan Family Wing but the Duncan Family Wing, meaning it was offered by the Duncan family. Know any wealthy Duncans?

  8. I don't want to seem overly and constantly negative, or like chicken little, or like some bozo loser who got beat up a lot in high school, but I bet Houston Pavilions gets cancelled and torn down any day now. Who would have thought the entire fate of downtown (and yes, the entire city of Houston) would ever rest with a bunch of yuppie bowlers.

And this is only the beginning. I've heard that the economy is so bad that they are actually going to start dismantling Williams Tower, Discovery Green and the Galleria.

I bet everyone in Houston is going to be laid off this year. Great Depression II will probably never end in Houston. But sit back and watch Dallas and Atlanta continue to get all these cool projects while Houston sits stagnant! I bet all our pro teams move away soon too! Will this torturous existence ever end!

Me and 'WACS told you so.:wacko:

    Well done sir.

  9. It appears to be a shoe emblazoned with the likeness of Barack Obama. The only association between presidents and shoes that comes to mind is when Iraqi protesters threw shoes at former President Bush (where cultural norms are that shoes associated or applied to people are considered an act of greatest insult), so one might be led to conclude that the shoe is in some way a criticism of Obama's policy towards Iraq or the Middle East.

But with Obama, it was different. He only wanted to show us how we were outnumbered, outgunned, outmatched, and seeming mad, we realized the importance of our monument. On that day, half a century ago, our species was pushed to the crumbling edge of extinction and as we teetered on that precipice, staring down at the abyss, a hand reached out, pulled us back from the brink and gave us hope... the hand of a hero.
