Compaq Center was part of the 2012 bid AS Lakewood Church. I think they said the new Lakewood Church would host indoor volleball if I recall correctly.
The MAIN way cities lose money in hosting the Olympics is building new stadiums and infrastructure for the Olympics that they almost never use afterward (it's like 20 stadiums in their city in the same state as our Astrodome.
Great news is this: We've already proven that THAT issue is not a factor at all. Every facility is SURE to be used before AND after the Olympics that's already been built, U of H and TSU would use the new aquatics facilities and Olympic Village, AND the ONLY facility we would have ecomonic question to proir to 2008 anyway would probably be the Dome. Our mass transit system is yet to be completed, but we're building it anyway. Buffalo Bayou needs to be cleaned and redeveloped, but we're currently doing that as well. We're still working on cleaner air in Houston as well.
Long Story stort: THERE'S NO WAY WE WOULD LOSE MONEY HOSTING THE 2016 OLYMPICS!!! WE ALREADY HAVE THE CITY IMPROVEMENT PLANS IN PLACE!!!!
That's why economics-wise, we're better than ANY city trying to host the games, U.S. AND internationally. Only one city comes close in my opinion, and that's Paris. I consider them a sure bet for 2020 or 2024 should they decide to run again.
As for a chance for a Super Bowl 2010 in Houston, as for now, our chances are GREAT. The earliest for Dallas to be eligible for a Super Bowl is 2011, but that vote would come AFTER the 2010 vote. Dallas would have no problem hosting in 2012 or 2013, so long as the NFL would GUARANTEE that there would be a Super Bowl in Arlington within 5 years of the stadiuim's opening.
By the way, 2016's bid IS in 2009. Everything we need for an Olympics 2016 is everything the city of Houston needs to do anyway.
I don't know about the 2010 Super Bowl in Houston. If the NFL Committee do a revote, Atlanta will win.

Really?! Man, if any Pappas Restaurant Co. comes in Pearland it will be packed, I mean PACKED! You think the restaurants there packed now watch Pappas come in to town.
I just hope it happens.
-
I'll be visiting Pearland soon. Pearland is just amazing to me, fast growing pace. I remember Pearland was nothing but weeds everywhere, and now they have all of the popular resturants in texas today. All they need now is Pappas, Pappasdeaux, or Pappas Bar-be-que.
Remember, I told y'all the next mall in Houston will be in Pearland, and I've got double the pleasure, they building two instead.
-
Right now, block writer. I have no clue where about in Pearland. I've seen it in the OVG MAGZINE (Official Visitors Guide) Summer 2005. They lisited the opening soon and current restaurants. That's where I've seen Vic & Anthony's, and Willie G's opening soon in Pearland.
-
I will go, and alot other people will go too. Some of y'all will go, just cause its new. y'all right now saying, I'm not going. When the grand opening, y'all be right in there.
And can y'all changed the topic, cause all I hear is sprawl, sprawl, sprawl. We can not help it, we can not destory it, so live with it. This is Houston, and sprawl will continue here and across the world.
Now I call that entertainment!

Hey, check this out. But, you'll need acrobat program to bring it up...
-
Yeah, I've heard about that too.
Ummmmm, now that's not entertainment!

Shamrock leaves a soar taste in my mouth. The name Shamrock is just like the name, Enron to me.
-
There were plans for a theater at Gulfgate, Great Hizzy. But, they decided not to add a theater after all.
-
You think Houston have a shot at 2010 Super Bowl?
-
Lifestyle Centers are the next mecca folks, they building them everywhere. Tell you the turth, I like them better then malls.
2 big lifestyle centers going up in pearland.
Proposed lifestyle centers at northline and northwest mall.
Simon Property Group purpose building a 1,000,000 square foot mall off of Katy Freeway near Cinemark Theaters. Currently under construction with the J.C. Penney Store.
Say it with me RedScare... NOW THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT!
-
Maybe if you're lucky, they'll put in an Aquarium with an observation tower.
Now that's entertainment!
Trying to steal my line, RedScare?
Now that's entertainment!

Yes, heard that too about Lowe's merged with AMC. But, Lowes do own Magic Johnson's Theaters. The reason why they picked Magic Johnson's name, cause to bring people back into their theaters. Magic Johnson do not own a theater, it's just for publiclicity folks. On the other hand, I'm glad Lowes is merging with AMC. Maybe something good will come out of this.
-
Since New York lost the Olympics. Do they still have a shot at the 2010 Super Bowl, or is the Super Bowl Committee will do the same like the Olympics Committee did, revote?
-
But, Magic Johnson was looking for other locations in the houston area, and that might be one of the locations. He already have one location at Northline.
-
I was hopeing someone would say something about this project. This will be a great addition to Kingwood, well, and Humble.
Now that's entertainment!
-
I know this is off topic. But, I just wanna add that, Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse, and Willie G's Seafood and Steak House is opening soon in Pearland.
-
So, where they going to put the theater? Everything at Gulfgate is kinda bunch up.
-
So, Lowe's the owner of Magic Johnson Theater is going to open a theater in Gulfgate?
-
Uptown, and Downtown is getting a Pavillion, or some sort of entertainment. Now, what about Midtown? Do y'all think Midtown deserves something like this?
-
Wow! Over 100,000 people was there yesterday. I'd seen the whole thing on Channel 13. The entire park was filled with people that looked like ants from the sky cam.
-
It's Houston hands down. Why should they fly to Dallas, and Houston more international?
-
You know hellbilly. You brung out some good points about Astroworld, and the majority I agree with you. They do need to invest more money into Astroworld, cause its the dump. And yes, Astroworld is a big joke. I've been to Waterworld a couple times, and will never go back there. I haven't been to Astroworld over 5 years now, but seems like I'm not missing nothing.
I can't wait until the new water park in Galveston opens. Now that's entertainment!

Is there any words on if the NFL Committee going to revote, or not?
