I never won anything on the radio, but in the early 80's when Warner Cable was in business they had a cable channel where they would post community announcements. They would post contest to send in a post card to win concert tickets, or Astros tickets. I think I must have been the only one to look at that channel, because in a one month period I won tickets for 2 Astros games, a Van Halen Concert and a Chicago concert. They cut me off after that, but it sure was fun while it lasted!
lol...I remember those channels...loud colors with that basic font...

and it still crawls to a standstill at rush hour

not surprised....Chronicle is located downtown but avoids the wards unless a shooting happens..lol

That show calls you to kiss up to Ted Johnson for 4 hours....something he did very well
it was a waste of a time slot as they would discuss too much football or other nonsense....610 wanted to promote local shows but that slot is hard unless your putting a decent product to be heard it was not..the lack of calls showed

there was a hey day for NW Mall? lol
Considering its close to the Galleria and then Northline and caught in an odd location...was it designed to succeed?
Imagine if HISD's facilities weren't located on it....how dead would it really be.

companies are paying tolls for people to work, people make more money each day, etc.....they can afford tolls so it'll fill up
-
they've cut back in coverage also...especially in sports as they've ignored local colleges and focus too much on UT and A&M
-
food lion was killed by 20/20....they actually had good prices though
-
racist? Maybe 610's hiring practices....not me

I had a 7-11 in my hood and hated it when they left as stop and go was a step below them...missed the slurpees...

There was one on Cartwright Road in Meadowcreek in Missouri City...nothing has came since it left
used to be home to Kingsaver before that
-
the guy does not care....just hire an african american 610, 790, etc. who does not play sports and can offer insight on Houston sports outside of these boring pro teams
Innes made you hate him but imagine if you get someone with his personality but hails from Houston who knows the market and can create meaningful topics
-
ahh....the era when they actually reported the news like hawks in Houston
Fox 26 used to pride themselves on the scoop...they've gotten relaxed now...the can go back to 30 minutes as most of the news is fluff....what happened to the 30 minute shows after the news? City Under Seige..lol

I drove 99 Southbound today and I was at 1-10 from my spot in Waller County (290 area near Hempstead) in 28 minutes

Rice football is a niche sport over there...they rarely support their own
