  1. There are a couple shorter ones near the "bridge park" downtown with the scrolling lights. Austin is better but most of the new ones near AA Center stand out better then this design. The W is good and the Westin hotel. The Westin here isn't bad but it's lost off Memorial.
  2. I agree that Austin and Dallas get much better designs and lighting on their new construction. Nothing about the majority of these towers stand out. Just another boring blocky pillar. It's a shame that Montrose is getting some of the most plain designs.
  3. Does anyone know what the steel frame in the bottom of this picture is for? In the renderings for the site, this area is a parking lot.
  4. Nothing like taking away the some of the views from the Hanover tower quickly.
  5. They have completed the 18th floor so they are halfway to the top (assuming it's still 36 floors).
  6. I agree the prices were too high. For a 2 bedroom at Ivy you could spend around the same or a little more for a three bedroom house in the same area and avoid the monthly fees.
  7. I forgot about the proposed Whole Foods in that area. That is going to be nice.
  8. They need to start putting grocery stores on the the bottom floor or two. Driving to one is a pain in Midtown and Eastside has no options other than the crummy Kroger.
  9. That's the four story ballroom / showroom that's attached. Second crane going up today. Same place as the gray crane but this one is yellow.
  10. It looks like they are still welding on contact points for the glass. They were making good progress until the rain. They have added one row of glass in the last couple weeks.
  11. Hes just using the leftover paint and stucco from the Astoria project. This is a shame. It's amazing how far away from the renderings these projects end up.
  12. There are guys on the gray crane, looks like they are preparing to jump it. I bet both get raised this weekend.
  13. At least there is a plan to develop even if the street isn't abandoned. Or that's how it seems. Just leave Palm St, keep the neighbors satisfied with their win and build the thing.
  14. That is a fantastic rendering. I love the unique design. Houston is already a leader in the medical field and this should help push it to the top.
  15. I've eaten at Hopdaddy in Austin. It's a good burger but it tastes like most other gourmet burgers. It was a nice spot to catch some college football though. I'll check this location out for lunch one day.
  16. From the article Construction on the new Galleria hotel-condo project is expected to begin next year and take two years to complete. Contis said the company is in negotiations with several hotel brands.
  17. This building is no longer lit up. Maybe residents complained it was causing too much glow in their units who knows. It is too bad because it was great to look at lit up and was unique for the city. Too many buildings in Houston don't have good light displays and this one was unique. Hopefully, they will light it up again but I haven't seen the lights on in weeks.
