I-44 is supposed to follow Kell Freeway in Wichita Falls to Abilene. They are already working on widening US 277 from Seymour to Wichita Falls from two lanes to four. The eventual plan is to make that I-44. After Abilene I can't tell you???Interstate 44 It can be proposed two ways1. Wichita Falls to I-20 in Abliene
http://www.dot.state.tx.us/wfs/projects/us277/project.htm
Interstate 32 Could be possibleFt Worth, Wichita Falls, Amarillo, I-45 Ennis Texas.
The path for this is clear from Fort Worth to Chillicothe where you hit the first red light. Thereafter there are stop lights in every town you until you hit Amarillo. I'd also be willing to bet work would have to be done in Decatur to construct access roads.

No problem! Although I live in the DFW area I grew up in the WF area and visit often. I started Wichita Falls Talk a little over a year ago and never thought it would have gone over as well as it has. Good moderators are as good as gold and I have two outstanding ones! Rider High does seem to have an outstanding soccer program. I'm not sure how long the coach has been there?Hey WTx-Thanks for posting that link under your post!
I didn't know Wichita Falls had their own forum.
We (Klein Oak) played Rider High recently in the state soccer play-offs and lost.
I hear they have a helluva long-time coach over their soccer program up there.
Thanks again for the link!
Parts of the completed Kell Freeway look similar to the Grand Parkway out in Katy with the median and the sporadic trees/shrubs sitting in them. This is actually a program of the City of Wichita Falls. The city plants trees and flowers all over town in medians. To save money the city grows the trees from seedlings. This program was statred over 20 years ago and has greatly enhanced areas of the city where trees and flowers are more scarce than a places like Houston. The down side is that the tree lined areas are nice places to set up speed traps.

Wow, talk about a phot tour! This has to be an expensive hobby with gas prices being the way they are. However, some highways can have some good architecture. I never really thought about it until I saw this. Nice website though! I liked the tour of Texas.

Jefferson and Granbury.

I am sure it will be cleared up shortly. They seem to have been having problems with their host? They have had some down time lately!

I think the one listed above died and went away. I was told there is a new one at...
Seems like Austin has had several forums that have never made it. Hopefully this one will stick around?

Its back up now!

Good news for Lubbock! They are really beginning to move up in the world!

THREE MONUMENTAL DOWNTOWN GROUNDBREAKINGS ANNOUNCED FOR DECEMBER
2005 has been a record-breaking year for Downtown Dallas development, and just because December is upon us, there's no slowing down! TRINITY BRIDGES GROUNBREAKING
On December 9, Dallas will see years of careful planning come to fruition with the groundbreaking of the first Santiago Calatrava designed bridge, the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge.
The Margaret Hunt HIll bridge is named in honor of a Dallas civic leader and an historic Dallas family.
Groundbreaking ceremonies begin at 4:30 p.m. on the Continental Avenue Viaduct overlooking the site of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. Parking is available at 505 North Industrial Boulevard. Then, throughout the month of December, spotlights will project the lines of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge in the night sky over the Trinity River. Keep a look out for Dallas' future!
Mercantile Complex Groundbreaking
On December 12, Forest City Enterprises will break ground on The Mercantile Complex, another landmark project for Downtown Dallas. The Mercantile Complex, the entire block of buildings spanning the south side of Main Street between Ervay and St. Paul, is comprised of over 1 million square feet and has sat vacant for over a decade in the heart of Downtown Dallas.
In addition to approximately 25,000 square feet of retail, Forest City's redevelopment plans for the Mercantile Complex include 365 residential units - 210 units in the historic 31-story Mercantile Bank Tower and 155 units in a new 16-story building planned to take the place of the easternmost portion of the block where the Dallas Building, Securities Building and Annex Building now stand. The City of Dallas has subsidized $70.5 million of the estimated total $250 million project which also includes future development of the Continental Building on Commerce Street and the Atmos Energy Buildings.
Mosaic Towers Groundbreaking
Though the official date has not been released, developer Hamilton Properties plans to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for Mosaic Towers, formerly known as the Fidelity Union Building, sometime in mid-December. Mosaic Towers will add another 440 residential units to Downtown Dallas, and approximately 20,000 square feet of retail.

You mean Witchita Falls or maybe Wichita Falls???

As most of you know Dallas has had a problem of lots of old outdated building stock. Office vacancy has run about 25-30% As a result they have lots of old class C space perfect for residential. All the following are old core downtown buildings taken off the office rolls or under const.
Completed
DP&L Building has 158 units
Davis Bldg has 183 units
Kirby Bldg has 156 units
Interurban Bldg has 134 units
Under Const.
(new) 1407 Main will have 90 units
Gulf States Building will have 68 units
Fidelity Union Complex Buildings will have 432 units
Metropolitan will have 273 units
Mercantile will have 365 units
Republic Bank Tower units-???

The placement of Post Oak Mall set Bryan back 20 years in my opinion
Wow, how many towns can say this about whatever mall was put on the opposite of town from downtown.
I like what has been done with the LaSalle. However, the current situation of running in the red needs to end soon. The effort is worthwhile but is doomed if it can turn itself around. Also, is anything been done with the Queen Theater? That might help if a Branson style performances or maybe something highlighting local musical talent?? Just throwing out ideas??

It's funny you mention the McDonald's/Wal-Mart Mix. When I lived in Waco for college, The Wal-Mart Supercenter at the corner of New Rd. and Franklin Dr. Had a McDonalds in it, but there also is a McDonald's on the other side of Wal-Mart's parking lot on Franklin Dr. 2 McDonald's on the same corner. Weird...
Yeah, along the same lines you can have a Barnes and Noble next to a SuperTarget. That could give you three Starbucks in the same area. I do know of a SuperTarget and Starbucks right next to each other.

Funny thing about devlopments, never count your ducks until the dirt flies!!

Since I love architecture I really love to come up out of the Riverwalk and take in San Antonio's buildings. I have seen some site San Antonio's lack of mega buildings like Houston and Dallas as a minus. However, I like the fact that San Antonio has a unique DT area with many of its older buildings still in use as class A buildings. The Tower Life is nice but there many more buildings there too. The South Texas Building is a fav of mine along with the Milam, the Rand, and the Majestic.

Denton's ok and at least you have the basics nearby. Not bad in the fact you have Dallas and Fort Worth just down 35. Here are some Denton County CH pics I have.

I think you mean against, right? Austin voted 65% or so against Prop. 2 which amended the state constitution to define marriage.
Travis County(Austin) was one, if not the only, county to vote to allow gay marriage. I can't remember if for or against meant which or what.

Thanks Montrose!!!! I really like old/new reflection pics that highlight onld and new. I love the reflection picture!!

I would comment too but Editor said all that needs to be said IMO!!

I think one measure that Austin is more liberal was the recent prop 2 vote. If I am not mistaken Dallas County was 35% for while Travis County was 60% for. In fact were their any other Texas counties that voted for this other than Travis?? Am I wrong for citing this as a liberal viewpoint??
-
Editor, sorry you feel that way. I honstly don't mind anybody posting on my forums and yours is certainly welcome on any of mine. I apoligize if I offended you. I am not from Houston and don't visit often so I don't really have much to say. I'll try to jump in a bit more if it makes things right. I am suprised that you would send your members to a crap site like that though?? What is up with that??
