  1. Does anyone have any info on the new Galleria stores opening up soon?  I heard there was a Carolina Herrera store, a Michael Kors store, and also a Sean John store?  I live in L.A. and I am writing an article about the Houston cultural change and this is a part of my article.  If anyone has any info that would help me out.  Also, what is gonna happen to the Lord and Taylor spot?

Some new stores I know of coming inside the Galleria are Aeropostale, David Yurman, Fox Sports Grill, Victoria Secret Beauty(don't know the difference from the other one in the Galleria), and Ylang-Ylang.

They have not specified where they are going to put Sean John. More than likely it will be in the Galleria by next year. They are looking for an area in Houston where there is 100,000 people in a 5 mile radius and the income of the families in the area are very high. With that said, it will probably be located in the Galleria or some area in Uptown.

  2. The last time I went to the Galleria, there was a Ralph Lauren billboard to the right of the Ralph Lauren store saying opening some time soon. Is the Ralph Lauren store expanding? Almost every major city has a main Ralph Lauren store, and they are pretty huge. I always thought the one in the Galleria was pretty small compared to other cities.

This is not a very detailed rendering.

    1401 LOUISIANA

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a lead tenant to make a significant impression on Houston's Central Business District. An opportunity to "fine tune" both the interior and exterior to specific requirements. An opportunity to claim the building's name identification. 1401 Louisiana, a proposed 400,000 square foot Class A office tower -- offering unique lead tenant options -- adjacent to WEDGE International Tower, in Houston's Central Business District.

  4. According to emporis, Houston has 12 scrapers proposed and 6 approved. Does anybody have any info on these buildings going up.

In the Inner Loop East area, which is downtown, there are 2 proposed and 1 approved.

In the Inner Loop South area, which is the Medical Center area, there are 3 proposed.

On the Westside of Houston, I am guessing this is from Uptown to Westchase, there are 6 proposed and 3 approved.

In the Inner Loop West area, this is not including Uptown, there are 2 approved and 2 proposed.

    Anybody have any info?

  5. I know, Toyota Power Team Dealer doo-la. But what about the Lone Star additon, Texas whatever Dodge/Ford/Chevy (2) have. The one Hertz Commercial, the one with San Francisco, LA, Houston, and Miami, was played threw out the south. I'm sure it changed for other cities... But Houston was the only one out of the 4 that showed the Skyline, and a good one at that!

Yeah, the Hertz commercial does play around the country. "Close to you." lol.

  6. I've seen a Subaru commercial with Lance Armstrong in it that takes place in Houston. The subaru is driving on I-45 and you can see the three aches of the new Metro Transit Authority building in the background. There is another shot where you can see the skyline coming up 45.

  7. Here are the census numbers I had for the leading cities in each metro area, along with the metro population.  It's bit apples-to-oranges, since several metro areas contain more than one legal city.  But I think it supports your point that city limit populations are fairly meaningless, since they mainly reflect legal factors that impact a city's ability to grow by annexation.  The city of Atlanta is really small, but the metro area is close to Houston and has a huge economic impact.
